Given Kudala Sangama's primary focus as a pilgrimage site and its relatively small size, the best area to stay is in the immediate vicinity of the Kudala Sangama Temple Complex.

This area is the heart of Kudala Sangama, situated at the confluence of the Krishna and Malaprabha rivers. The main landmark is the Kudala Sangama Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is also the samadhi (final resting place) of Basavanna, a 12th-century philosopher and social reformer. Accommodation options are typically found within a short walking distance of the temple, offering easy access to the spiritual sites.

For pilgrims and those interested in the area's spiritual and historical significance, staying near the temple complex is ideal. It allows for convenient participation in daily rituals and exploration of the Basava International Centre and the various shrines and monuments commemorating Basavanna's life and teachings.

The best time to visit Kudala Sangama is during the cooler, drier months, specifically from October to March.

During these months, the weather is pleasant with clear skies and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 30°C. This makes it ideal for exploring the outdoor attractions and engaging in religious activities without the discomfort of extreme heat or heavy rainfall. The Tungabhadra and Krishna Rivers, which converge here, are also generally calmer and at a good level for viewing.

For those planning to attend the annual Mahashivaratri festival, which usually falls in February or March, this period is particularly relevant. The festival draws many pilgrims and offers a unique cultural experience, though it can be more crowded.
