A 4 part review:
Let's start with the basics - clean, well maintained, warm, got all the stuff you need.
Then let's talk covid measures - the hotel is well laid out, all the screens and social distancing is in place, lots of hand cleaner everywhere, and central services such as lobby toilets are closed at 10pm for safety. All good.
Now the room itself - all clean and relatively well appointed, but the mattress was way too soft for my taste, as were the pillows, and the room (10th floor) was unbelievably hot. Fans are ok but it really needed some aircon to make it comfortable.
Finally the best bit. The staff and service were fantastic. Particular mentions go to Ana at the bar, Agata who looked after us at dinner, Sebastien on reception and his female colleague who checked us in but i couldn't see her name. We were made to feel very welcome, always looked after, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they seemed to treat us as individuals rather than "just another guest"
Good service makes a massive difference wherever you stay. The hotel manager at Novotel West needs to pat themselves on the back, the staff here are brilliant and we had a great time because of them. Lucky, as it was our 32nd wedding anniversary!
