Loved our stay here. Long way from hotel facilities and no pool access. We had children with us. Our apartment needed more cutlery and glasses. I often expect when booking through a hotel and upgrading the room that you still get to access hotel facilities and have basics in room like tea and coffee. Amazing views, clean and comfortable. Good room temperature

Great breakfast, spa and swimming pool with massaging under water jets. Great view through windows or balcony. Very courteous receptionist. Well done and a hotel to remember.

Perfect location, no more in-room fridges though
This was our third stay in this hotel. The location is just perfect for the slopes, service especially at the front desk is super friendly and the spa and saunas are wonderful after a full day outside. Since last year they seem to have removed the mini fridges from the rooms (at least ours didn't have one) - that used to be great for storing snacks for hungry teenagers, I hope those will be back. Also, mini toiletries were no longer in the room, but that's a good solution for reducing single-use plastics/trash - and the same products can be bought cheaply at the reception if needed.

This was oir second visit to this hotel and we were left feeling rather disappointed. When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that our appartment was in a seperate block which was a good 5+ minute walk away from the main building (this would have been very difficult for people with mobiloty issues because you had to take your own case down deep, snowfilled roads and go down snow covered steps without any assistance from the hotel - pulling a case through deep snow is not easy. This also meant each morning you had to conpletely boot up and put termals and worm clothes on and talk back up the hill to thhe hotel in minus degree tenperstures to get breakfast). We were also informed that use of the spa facilities, including the swimming pool, would cost us extra (£35 to use it for 2 hours each day), this was not made clear on booking and even after checking the website again we did not see anything telling us that the spa, or pool would cost extra or that our accomodation would not be in the main building. If you are going to hook i would reccomend checking very carefully for what is included! When we got into our apartment it was very nice, it was a good size for the 4 of us and had a good view over the valley and an excellent view of the sun rise/set. Having a sauna in our room was great and the kitchen was well equipt. After using the pool once a few members of out party got bad rashes so we would question what extra chemicals are in the pool/jacuzzi!

We'll check if we are able to make this information more clear in future. We monitor the pool water quality closely and during your stay there hasn't been anything abnormal with the chemicals. We are still sorry to hear you have had some rashes after using the pools. Despite these unpleasant feelings you had during your stay we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your apartment even though it was not attached in the main building. Hopefully we'll see you again some day.

Perfectly located hotel with spa
We have come to Saaga several years in a row. The hotel is perfectly located for sking in and out from the slopes and the spa is very nice after a day in the snow.

Perfect location
A lovely stay and so convenient to be so close to the ski resort. 100m away. The rooms are nice although a little dated, however very comfortable and enough room for all your ski gear. The spa was great with nice facilities with a pool, spa and sauna. The bar and restaurant are also great upstairs and a nice breakfast too. Stay here if you want to be close to the snow and want a comfortable stay.

Loved it
Perfect place for a couple of days of winter sports, a short bus transfer from the airport right to the front door. The room was spacious, beds really comfortable, food great. Despite the hotel being fully booked (Christmastime!), everything went smoothly: no food shortage during breakfast, quick and efficient service, the staff are always in a good mood, smiling, joking and act as if you're their only and most important guest. I'll definitely stay there again if I get the chance.

Good location, unfriendly service. Stay elsewhere!
Great location, Yllas is a wonderful place and the surrounding villages are lovely. Akaslompolo is a charming village with a few things to do. Lapland Hotel Saaga is reasonably ok, but the customer service we experienced was unhelpful and not very friendly. We arrived and our kids just wanted to swim so we asked about the pool, only to be told we couldn't use the spa or pool unless we paid an additional €150 because we were chalet and not hotel guests, which was not advertised on the Saaga website or on Hotels.com. They refused to waive the nonsense charge even though the staff acknowledged it was not clear and the cost would stand. Luckily, Hotels.com stepped up and covered the cost (issue was dealt with very well by Hotels.com thank you). So, all in all it worked out ok thanks to Hotels.com but it left a slightly sour taste against the hotel for us. We wouldn't stay there again and couldn't recommend in good conscience. We'd definitely return to the area and Lapland is wonderful, we'd stay at one of the charming cabins or smaller hotels nearby. If you're not bothered about skiing then there is no real reason to stay at this hotel. Akaslompolo has lots going on and has sweet looking places to stay and eat, so that'd be our preferred location for next time. Shame for the hotel really, the issue could've been avoided and managed much better by providing clear information upon booking so we knew what to expect. We had a fantastic time there regardless.

Fantastic location at the base of the Fell, near to gondola lift and many hiking routes. Hotel was comfortable and the chalet was exceedingly well equipped. We really enjoyed our 1 week visit!

The hotel is great if you love to have a ski into hotel. You can rent skis right on sight. There is a bus right to and from the airport. The food is great!

An Ikea Hotel - clean but basic
Great place for skiers and families. Small note for travellers - the rooms are clean and comfortable (which is the most important) but there are no extra amenities (toothpaste, safe, mini bar). Food and activities in the hotel and nearby shopping area is expensive, so budget for 20 euros per meal per person. If driving was an option, I would have packed snacks and drinks because 3 Euro for a hot chocolate every day adds up!

Saaga Hotel in Yllas
We stayed here for one night to extend our holiday by a day. We had stayed in the Saaga chalets for the rest of the holiday. The hotel staff made our room change easy and were very helpful. We ate in the buffet restaurant for tea which was really nice and breakfast the next morning was great. Would definitely recommend. My only issue would be that the bed was too soft!

I am surpised this hotel is a Tripadvisor winner for 2013... Very poor buffet for breakfast and dinner. Rude and not heplful reception staff. Also, the reception is closed in the evening and open at 7am in the morning. Can you believe that?! So, if you need them, they are not there fir you! If your stay include Sunday, just bare in mind that no one will clean your room. You have to request that...and so far this is a 4 star hotel.. Definitely I wont return in Saaga Hotel.
