"The house exceeded our expectations: location, view, interior, heating (partially with fan, in the living room with wood fire), kitchen - everything was perfect! Communicatoin with the host (Lesley) was quick, direct and clear, their gallery and art is beautiful."

"Online listing does not explain clearly the ‘off grid’ nature of the property (limited power & hot water) and does not include details about the 300m walk (incl a skinny sway bridge crossing) to get from where you park your car to the property, nor was this communicated to us as part of the special instructions you normally receive days before your arrival. No contact was made until a few hours prior and no information was provided at that time, only on arrival were we told that we needed a 4WD to get to the cottage, so our luggage was transported by the host while we walked. Had we known and been prepared (incl packing differently), we would have enjoyed it, rather than being surprised and frustrated. The cottage itself was lovely and once we settled in, it was enjoyable, just not what we were expecting."

"This is our second stay at this beautiful Mapua Cottage. It’s quirky, warm, comfortable and very close to the small Mapua shopping area and eateries. Great walks and cycle trails are nearby, including rabbit island. Highly recommend. "
