"The staff were exceptional, always willing to help with a lovely smile. The hotel was right on the beach, where the water was warm and the bay so beautiful . The hotel was carrying out external maintenance, which was not disruptive and needed. The rooms were clean but in need of a bit of a paint touch up as they are looking tired. Shower was not warm but the weather certainly was, so although frustrating nothing to harsh to handle. Would I recommend the hotel definitely, lovely and quiet but also close enough to restaurants, pubs and clubs for the youngsters."

"we booked another hotel and stayed there due to various things 1. no food allowed by pool 2. no drinks allowed by the pool 3. the room made all our clothes smell damp 4. unlike Thailand the welcome when we arrived was poor. carried our own bags no welcome drink just a reception tell us the rules of what we cant do. the hotel itself is a good standard, but it's very Western you could be in benidorm so that's a personal thing that we didn't like. the food we ordered when we arrived was cold. we did not complain or talk to the staff as it's just a waste of energy. we just went to another hotel not a terrible place but certainly not for us and would not go back"

"My first time to Samui. Had no idea where to stay, how much to spend, no recommendations. I booked purely on hotels.com and star ratings, in conjunction with price. We did splurge for a private cabin which if I recall wasn’t all that much more per night and was totally worth it. This hotel was really nice. The room was big and private entrance with porch and well equipped with great AC, big shower AND tub, king size bed, full size couch, and a chair. If you want 5 star it’s not. But a solid 4. The service from front desk to servers to cleaners were typical southeast Asian great hospitality. Room was 30 feet from the beach. The pool and outdoor bar and restaurant was 50 feet past that. We ate at the restaurant for dinner on the beach twice. They do really great fresh seafood. You can do Thai style or many other foreign choices. Great service on the beach. And all prices were very reasonable. For 2 of us eating dinner twice, breakfast once (albeit may have been included), and all sort of drinks on the beach for 4 days our total food and beverage bill was only about $200. The hotel is right in town. But it’s set back against the beach so you’ll never hear noise. But in 5 minutes walk you have many choices of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Oh, and 2 doors down the beach you can rent a jet ski for a very reasonable price. For 2 of us (1 ski) it was $80 for 40 min. And no hours of paperwork needed!"

"Our room tariff included airport transfers. The vehicle promptly picked us up at the airport. Check in was efficient and smooth. We were permitted an early check in with no extra charge. I had booked a suite but was given a large bedroom with a good sized balcony. The plate outside the room mentioned that it was a suite which should have a separate bedroom and living room. At one end of the room was a tiny table and 2 chairs. So this definitely was NOT a suite by any definition. I didn't want to start off my week-long holiday arguing with the staff considering I saw the room plate and I realized there was no point. The hotel entrance is pretty dated and we didn't get any 5* hotel feeling at all. Initially we were very disappointed but after Day 1 we got used to the place. The suite front doors face the main road which could be noisy but not bad. The balcony faced the sea so that was lovely. This is a beach side property so that's a huge plus. Though the hotel has a spa across the street i used the masseuses on the beach at 500THB for a deep tissue massage. There is no shuttle service to town which is a 10 minute walk. All along the walk and in town there are plenty of restaurants from Michelin star restaurants (Day and Night and Kapi Sator) When we were checking out we were not able to have too long a late check out but the transit lounge was very comfortable with shower facilities and a collection of novels."

Dara Samui Beach Resort - Adults Only

"Air conditioning in the guest rooms is great, but this is the only place in the resort that has AC. Room could be cleaner, there was dust all over the room at check-in and tiny ants everywhere. We stayed for 9 nights and on 2 days consecutively the bath was not cleaned even though it was visibly dirty (from sand and use). I also expected from a 4 star hotel to have the plumbing sorted to enable toilet paper to be flushed like most visitors would be accustomed to. I understand this is an issue across Samui but other third world countries have this worked out. Breakfast was satisfactory. Hot food is kept hot and cold food (salad, fruit etc) is kept in an airconditioned room however, other food such as pastries and cakes are sitting at room temperature and exposed to flies. The egg station (cooked to order) was great however, again some foods such as chicken skewers and waffles were exposed to the elements. Found that pool bar staff were not overly attentive. They were ok if you went up to the bar to order a meal or drink - they would deliver to where you are sitting however, they did not approach guests on sunloungers to take any orders and barely cleared empty bottles, glasses until you had vacated. Probably wouldn't recommend staying here for anyone who has an issue with using a lot of stairs."

"Rooms are ok a little dated. Only get 1 key card- no air con when you leave the room so be be prepared to walk unto a steamy room when ur out. Pool is great but your cannot bring your own food or drinks. Beach is ok but better just north. They are on a flight path for the koh Samui airport so expect some loud air traffic occasionally. Excellent breakfast"
