Sleeping four but boasting three bedrooms, this charming property offers traditional furnishings and décor and has an open fire, welcome tray, a courtyard garden and ceiling fans in the bedrooms, making this a great year-round choice. Sitting within the very sought-after village of Castle Acre, which dates back to the Iceni period, the village is home to the famous Castle Gateway, Castle, and Priory, along with a beautiful village green and café, all easily accessible on foot from your accommodation. Venture a little further however and you will find yourself with lots of options when it comes to getting close to both history and nature including Royal Sandringham, the Houghton and Holkham Estates, the Hanseatic Quarter of old Kings Lynn and numerous local museums.

Those who love to walk will find themselves amid the Peddars Way, a historical Roman pathway which links you to the coast and offers an array of natural sights and sounds. The beautiful River Nar also flows along the outskirts of Castle Acre and is ideal for paddling in the hot weather, especially at the ford. You can walk along one of the footpaths through the water meadows and near the ford to search for trout, while enjoying the idyllic scenery and wildlife. Thetford Forest, with High Lodge and Go Ape, is also within easy reach at just under a 30-minute drive. And those preferring two wheels to two feet will find some stunning cycle routes locally. Also within 30 minutes is the stunning North Norfolk coastline where you will discover rolling sand dunes, stripy cliffs, shingle and sand beaches, marshes, and picturesque quays. In fact, you are equidistant from some of the finest seaside spots in the area including Brancaster and Wells-next-the-Sea. With all this on offer, you are sure to work up a keen appetite and will be delighted to find lots of great places to eat and drink, including a local micro-brewery and a good selection of CAMRA pubs. And after a fun-packed day of exploring and taking in all the sites, you can return to Nightingale Cottage, sure of a great night’s sleep. Pub and restaurant 176 yards.
