"Had booked an early check in and the lady on reception said she will call us when the room was ready but unfortunately never. However the room was ready at just after 2pm so we were ok with this. They tried to charge us 20 euros for this early check in so we did have to advise we didn't get it. They took it off straight away. There was a Travel cot outside the room when we arrived but the room was clean."

"The room was lovely, clean and spacious, the restaurant looked fabulous although I did not use it, not too far to town and only around 20 euros in a taxi. The staff were fantastic with my son who has additional needs."

Imperial Hotel

8/10 Good
"We stayed in the older part of the hotel. The floor was creaky and the armoire rattled loudly when you walked around the room. It was a clean, large room and the mattress was excellent. It was very quiet except for the last night when I was awakened by the sounds of a band and drumming. Popped my earplugs in and went back to sleep. One major issue was that we were unable to change the temperature or the heat/air conditioner setting in the room. We had to ask the front desk to change it 3 times. Our friends stayed in the newer section for more money and their room was much nicer. I think it would have been worth the cost."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kilmacahill?
The best area to stay in Kilmacahill is the village centre itself, particularly around Main Street and the immediate surrounding lanes. This is the heart of Kilmacahill, where you'll find the majority of its amenities. Main Street is home to several traditional pubs, local shops, and eateries. The village green, often a focal point for local gatherings, is just off Main Street, providing a pleasant open space. It's a compact and walkable area, making it easy to get around on foot. For couples looking for a relaxing retreat with easy access to local life, staying in the village centre is ideal. You can enjoy strolls to the local pubs for an evening drink, browse the small shops, and easily reach the Kilmacahill Heritage Centre, which offers insights into the area's history.
When is the best time to go to Kilmacahill?
The best time to visit Kilmacahill is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is generally at its finest.During these months, you'll experience the longest daylight hours, with the sun often not setting until late in the evening. This allows for extended opportunities to explore the beautiful natural surroundings, such as the nearby coastal paths and beaches. While rain is always a possibility in Ireland, summer brings the warmest temperatures, usually ranging from 15°C to 20°C, making outdoor activities much more pleasant. This period is particularly well-suited for families, as the milder weather is ideal for children to enjoy the various outdoor attractions without the chillier conditions of other seasons. Many local attractions and seasonal events are also in full swing during July and August, offering more options for entertainment and activities.Couples looking for a romantic escape will also appreciate the summer months. The longer evenings are superb for enjoying a leisurely dinner with scenic views or taking a stroll along the shore.
