Also a great place for a couples retreat/romantic getaway. Peaceful place for writers and or artists that need tranquility. NOTE: Please inquire about the couples only rates. (Discount rates will be available for a party of 1 or 2.) SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS= Total of eight people. 4 Adults and 4 Children
- Bedroom 1: 1 queen bed = 2 Adults

- Bedroom 3: 2 Bunk beds= 4 twin beds for children ONLY. VERY IMPORTANT: This property is NOT A PARTY PLACE! It’s reserved for families and or couples. If you’re looking for a place to party and play loud music…. DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY! PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE. Get away from the city and reconnect with nature. Central AC makes your stay very comfortable!
The cabin is surrounded by Water Company and State Forest land. Lots of birds, squirrels, owls and deer.
The hiking trails are walking distance from the cabin and located in Cockaponset State Forest = 788 acres to explore. The trails are well marked and family friendly. The cabin is a true log home construction with an open floor plan with a beautiful native stone fireplace. Peaceful open space areas surrounded by forest with many flower gardens to admire. Relax on the front porch with a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and listen to the sounds of nature.
Enjoy making memories by the fire pit telling campfire stories, reading a book or, making s’mores and roasting hotdogs. We provide all of the firewood and fire starters to enjoy the fire pit. A pizza oven and gas grill are available as well. RELAX at the cabin or hit the road to visit many local attractions. The cabin is a short drive to the shoreline where you can enjoy Hammonasset Beach State Park and all of the great beaches as well as awesome seafood restaurant’s and local breweries.. Chatfield Hollow State Park is a shorter drive and a great place to hike, fish, cookout and enjoy the lake. And for the professional shoppers, Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets is a short drive as well. Try your luck at Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods Casino, less than an hour drive. New Haven- the “Pizza Capital” is less than an hour’s drive and you can tell your friends and family that you’ve tried the best pizza in the USA!

The cabin is equipped with an alarm-monitoring system that alerts the fire department when smoke or fire is detected inside the cabin and alerts the state police in the event of an unauthorized entry. This property also features 5 exterior security cameras: 2 cameras are in the front of the house, one facing the front walkway and one facing the driveway-parking area. 2 cameras are in the back of the cabin, one facing the back exterior driveway-garage and one facing the shed-barn. 1 camera is on the side of cabin facing the side entrance to the kitchen. The cameras are outward facing and do not look into interior spaces.

We randomly selected the cabin as a place to meet up with our life long friends and we couldn’t have been happier. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. Gardner was very responsive and added the nicest touches to our stay. We will definitely be back.

The Cabin & the property is immaculate. House is spotless & super cozy!! The land is gorgeous private & so relaxing. It was absolutely perfect for my wedding as I had my own bridal suite upstairs to get ready celebrate & take photos. The house is gorgeous & great for my disabled parents to enjoy as well. The cabin is stunning!! The hosts Gardener & Kathy are the sweetest!! We didn’t wanna leave. We will definitely be back!! This place is a incredible!! So beautiful inside & out peaceful an cozy!!

What a great stay

We absolutely loved our stay at the cozy cabin. It’s nestled in the woods among beautiful maple trees. The location was great for our daily adventures both east and west. We will definitely stay again if we get the chance.

Great Getaway for Family

This property is beautiful and has everything you can possibly need. Owner is extremely accommodating and knowledgeable about the surrounding restaurants and attractions. We would definitely return for another stay. The kids enjoyed the trails and open space.

Fully equipped glam cabin

The cabin is absolutely beautiful and fully equipped with everything and anything needed. What an awesome family escape from the hustle and bustle of a fast paced life. Spend some quality time with your family telling ghost stories at the fire pit, playing board games, and taking hikes in the woods. Then cuddle up on the comfy couch, share your experiences in the cabin log and watch a movie together. I highly recommend this cabin!

Cabin in the Woods

It is certainly a cabin in the quiet woods which you would normally find in northern Vermont. We loved everything about it. My Three Sons grew up tent camping in the Yale Forest and this was that, only with a log cabin replacing Eureka tents! We loved sitting around the massive firepit and feeding the flames with plenty of seasoned, dry hardwood, cooking several meals on the coals with pie irons and steak prongs. Just loved it.

An absolute Gem

We so enjoyed our stay at Maple Tree!!!! It was so thoughtfully appointed and exceptionally clean; and so very cozy. It is very close to Guilford and Old Saybrook as well as a hop skip and a jump into New Haven. We saw a show at Mohican Sun and that was a very easy jaunt as well. Gardner, the proprietor, was amazing and super easy to work with!!!! We highly recommend this little spot. It will not disappoint.

Incredible Cabin and Wonderful weekend!

Everything about this cabin was FANTASTIC! It completely exceeded our expectations and our host had every detail taken care of within the cabin, from an incredible coffee station within a beautiful kitchen, plenty of games up in the game room; to the fire pit having everything we needed to get a camp fire started. Every room in the cabin was beautifully decorated and set up in such a way that we truly felt at home. Our teenagers were very impressed, which is a miracle within itself! What an incredible home base to visit the beach for the day and come home to have s'mores over the camp fire! Thank you so much! We can't wait to visit again!

Exactly what we needed

My best friend and I take our children every year on an overnight getaway in the summer. This year we decided to stay more local and this place was exactly what we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated having back up toilet paper and paper towels (something I have taken for granted in the past!) The kids loved the air hockey table and the bunk beds. All the little touches, like the fresh cut flowers and maple syrup, made it feel like home. I will say, what we are most appreciative of, was the kindling and firewood! There are so many times that firewood is an afterthought when we aren't camping, so this really made our night! We will absolutely be back again!

Hallmark Christmas

We were in awe of how cool this cabin is, everyone kept saying, “ It’s like a Hallmark Christmas movie”. It couldn’t have been more perfect for our family. The 8yr old twin boys loved the air hockey table and it was great having that space upstairs for them to enjoy movies and games too. We had a great Christmas dinner and had all the amenities, perfect amount of seating. We tried s’mores at the fire pit, but made them quickly and ran in because it was 15 but we still got in another great memory. We got a little skiff of snow, enough for a tiny snowman. Thank you Gardner for your accommodation and quick responses.
