Fun for all the family at this century-old amusement park that successfully embraces old and new.

One of the oldest continually running amusement parks in the USA, Kennywood has been a feature of Pittsburgh for over a hundred years. Founded in 1898 at the end of the trolley car tracks, this park has gone from strength to strength, and today, traditional rides and original features stand next to the latest innovations in thrill-seeking.

With 31 major rides, ranging from white-knuckle thrillers to gentle delights, Kennywood really does have something for everyone. Adrenalin-junkies will love the high-flying Aero 360 or swinging through the air on the rotating Black Widow. On a hot day, there’s no better way of cooling off than on one of Kennywood’s water rides. Zoom down slopes on the LogJammer, or take on the turbulent waters of the Raging Rapids – either way, you’re in for a splash! For a more laid-back approach, take a seat on the elegant, hand-crafted carousel, or take a paddle boat out for a spin on the park’s lagoon.

Kennywood has long been known for its rollercoasters, and these remain a popular attraction. Jump on a wooden rollercoaster dating back to the 1920s, known as the Jack Rabbit. Or enjoy the high-speed twists and turns of more modern steel constructions, like the plummeting SkyRocket, or the 135 km/h Phantom’s Revenge – one of the world’s fastest rides.

Families will love Kiddieland, with a range of rides to suit all ages – from the classic Ferris wheel to the space-age Orbiter. There are even miniature versions of some of the bigger rides, so no one feels left out.

It’s not all thrills and spills here. There are plenty of places to grab a bite and relax, with more than 30 cafés and restaurants in the park.

Kennywood is located 16 kilometres from central Pittsburgh. The park is open daily from mid-May to mid-August. Visit the website for details on opening times, prices and height restrictions. Parking is available on site, or a bus runs directly to the park.
