Absolutely Fabulous
Lovely accommodation, warm, and well equipped with everything you could possibly wish for. Fantastic views and within walking distance to the beach. We took our two large dogs with us and they had a marvelous time. Section well fenced for our 4 legged friends. Fishing was marvelous and so many places to fish from. Our hostess was brilliant, and made us feel so at ease. We hope to return again. Thank you Annette for sharing your beautiful haven with us. You and your property exceeded our expectations

Amazing!
The house is clean and tidy. All basic needs are provided for. Great bathroom and kitchen. Everything is great. The property is a perfect place for when you need to get away and switch off from the noises of the city. The big fenced grassed ground is perfect for our dog to run around, she loves it. Did I mention that the host, Annette, was amazing. Highly recommended!

Ruru whare is a relaxing place to stay. It was great to sit out on the balcony enjoying a morning coffee while taking in the sights of the surrounding areas.

A Fabulous Place to Relax
This is our second stay here and this visit was as enjoyable as the first - the property is perfectly designed for a couple and is located in a quite spectacular beach front location. Annette is a wonderful hostess who cannot do enough for you and is very relaxed and friendly. This is our favourite break location in New Zealand and we will be back for sure!

Soak in the views
We had a very peaceful and relaxing time at Whare Ruru. Fabulous views over the inlet to sand dunes and hills from the wonderful verandah. I strolled barefoot down the grassy hill to swim at least twice a day. The house had everything we needed and was uncluttered and clean.

Awesome Aotea
Has everything you need, and more. I can not fault Ruru Whare at all. Amazing location, everything provided (all you need is food and clothes). Pet friendly...... to be able to take our dog on holiday for the first time ever was so amazing. An awesome view of Aotea Harbour from the bach, private, quiet, perfect location (2 minute walk to the beach). Couldn't ask for anything more. See you again really soon :)

the 10 days in this wonderful cottage on an very special place we have enjoyed very much. there was no noice except from the birds. the right place to come down and on top the cottage was very clean and with all the things you need for to make your stay phantastic.

Stunning. Just stunning.
What an absolutely superb studio and host! All you hear is birdsong and the waves lapping against the shoreline. Absolute tranquility in a remote and peaceful area. Do bring along all you want to eat and drink though - there is very little in the area in the form of a take-aways or stores and only one take-away on the way into Kawhia was open in the evening during our stay. Nothing in the nearby village was open for food during the 2 evenings we stayed. Annette is absolutely lovely and the studio is just stunning. Way more spacious than the photo's would lead you to believe. Lovely tranquil and peaceful surrounds.

An amazing place to stay. The peace, quiet and tranquility was exceptional. A very clean, tidy, warm and comfortable holiday home. A very beautiful part of New Zealand off the tourist trail. A stunning place to stop and take in the peaceful tranquillity. I don't even know where to begin describing how fabulous this place is. I will start by saying that our Labrador, Kahu had a blast frolicking in the grassy area outside and on the beach, which is just a short walk away. The accommodation has everything you need. We felt so lucky to have chosen this space for our stay in the area. It has beautiful views and easy access to the beach for walking at low tide. The road to get in was a bit more remote than we were expecting, but the cottage was spotless and had more than enough amentities for our stay which we loved! Wonderful stay from start to finish. The bach was much more spacious than anticipated, spotlessly clean and the wood burning fire was divine! My big dog had a ball, running and swimming at the beach and crashing out in front of the fire. We will definitely be back, two nights was not enough!

A beautiful west coast getaway
If you're looking for a great place to relax and unwind on the west coast, look no further. Ruru Whare had everything we needed for a long weekend away with our dog. Wonderfully appointed to watch the beautiful and ever-changing weather and landscape, the place is clean, comfortable and extremely well thought out.
