"Good hotel for a short stay in Taiping. Staff are friendly and helpful. The room was adequate—comfortable bed, small bedside table, small desk, TV, a plastic chair, small bathroom with a hot water shower. No fridge, but that’s not a big deal. The hotel is right in the center of town, which has many really great food stalls everywhere. You won’t be eating anything more than snacks in the room, trust me. I liked my stay at this hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Kampung Ulu Ribu?

The best area to stay in Kampung Ulu Ribu is within the vicinity of the Kampung Ulu Ribu Homestay Programme, as this is the primary accommodation option and the centre of visitor activities. This area is a collection of traditional Malay homes located within the village itself, offering a direct experience of local life. The homes are generally situated along quiet village roads, surrounded by lush greenery, fruit orchards, and the gentle sounds of the countryside. You'll find yourself close to the Ribu River, which flows through the village.Couples looking for a peaceful and culturally rich escape often find this area ideal. It provides a chance to disconnect from city life and enjoy the simplicity of village living, with opportunities for quiet walks, birdwatching, and enjoying traditional meals prepared by local hosts.Families will also appreciate staying within the Homestay Programme. Children can experience rural life firsthand, perhaps seeing farm animals, learning about local crafts, or playing in a natural setting.

When is the best time to go to Kampung Ulu Ribu?

The best time to go to Kampung Ulu Ribu is during the dry season, which typically runs from March to September. This period sees less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor activities like exploring the surrounding jungle, visiting waterfalls, and enjoying the river. The weather is generally warm and humid year-round, but the dry season offers more consistent conditions for enjoying the natural beauty of the area without interruption from heavy downpours. For families, visiting during the dry season is particularly beneficial. The drier trails make jungle trekking more comfortable for all ages, and the lower river levels can be better for gentle river activities. It also means fewer mosquitoes, making evenings more pleasant for outdoor dining and relaxation.Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will also appreciate the dry season. The clear skies are superb for stargazing, and the calmer river conditions allow for romantic boat trips or simply enjoying the tranquil sounds of nature.
