Forrest's Cabin and Vivian's Cabin - Two Cabins with Private Lakefront and Dock!

This rental includes 2 CABINS, both Forrest's Cabin and Vivian's Cabin, which are next door to each other and share a common driveway. The cabins are lakefront on Manistee Lake in Kalkaska and both cabins have their own bonfire ring and private dock on Manistee Lake! Provides a great setting for 2 families, an extended family, or a large group (with perhaps men in 1 cabin and women in the other) to come together as a common group, but still have some private space!


NEIGHBORHOOD:

The location of the property is right in the heart of northern Michigan, so it's really a great location to explore all that northern Michigan has to offer! The cottages are about a 15-minute drive from downtown Kalkaska, which is a cute little northern Michigan town with a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and a grocery store. Kalkaska County (in which the cottage is located) is regionally famous for lakes, fishing, hiking, boating, outdoor / nature activities, and snowmobiling. (The county is in a "snow belt" section of Michigan and gets a great deal of lake-effect snow.) Snowmobiling trails in the area are readily accessible from the cottage. Skiing and snowboarding are also very popular in the area. Forbush Corner is a great place for nordic cross-country skiing and is only 16.6 miles east of the cottages. Similarly, Mount Holiday provides downhill skiing and snowboarding and is only about 30 miles west of the cottages!

The cottages are also only 20 minutes away from Torch Lake, which, with its famous turquoise-colored water, is widely regarded as the most beautiful and popular inland lake in all of Michigan! Torch Lake makes for a fun day trip and additional sites to see. The little town of Alden on Torch Lake is also very charming and enchanting.

If bigger city activities are desired, although the cottage is in a very natural and peaceful setting, the cottages are actually only a 45-minute drive from Traverse City. Traverse City is the tourism, entertainment, dining, and financial hub for all of northern Michigan and, in addition to lots of scenic natural beauty associated with its location on Lake Michigan, the city has a wide and wonderful array of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums, and nightlife.


THE SPACE:

Each cabin has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. Thus, between the 2 cabins there are 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and sleeping space for up to 11 adults (6 at Forrest's Cabin and 5 at Vivian's Cabin).


PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

1) NO AIR CONDITIONING: Please note that the property does NOT have air conditioning. As such, it may get warm in the house during the summer if it is warm outside.

2) PET POLICY: Up to 3 dogs are permitted at the property. If bringing 1 to 3 dogs, please make certain that they are included on the reservation and that the pet fee is appropriately paid. More than 3 dogs is strictly prohibited and any pets other than dogs are also strictly prohibited.

3) NUMBER OF GUESTS: Please note that our pricing is based upon the number of guests, with pricing being higher with each additional guest that is included on the reservation. Please make certain that the correct number of guests is specified on the reservation so that the pricing is correct.

4) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not.

5) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. As such, late check-outs are strictly prohibited.

6) LAKE: Lake is across the street.

7) LAYOUT: Two cottages onsite - shared driveway for both.

8) BUGS: You will want to bring a lot of bug spray.

9) NO WATER TOYS: Water toys not provided due to liability, bring or rent your own (kayak, boat, paddleboard, etc.)

10) FIREWOOD: Firewood not provided.

11) TRASH: Trash pick up is every Monday morning. The trash bin will need to be placed at the end of the driveway by Sunday night.

12) SHOES: We ask that you remove your shoes while inside.

13) SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited.

14) PARTIES: Parties are strictly prohibited.

15) ⚠️ IMPORTANT: DOCK USAGE & LIABILITY DISCLAIMER:
**Boat Size, Weather & Parking Restrictions**
* Our dock system is strictly rated for watercraft **under 250 lbs**.
* Mooring or tying any watercraft exceeding **250 lbs** to the dock is prohibited.
* Leaving **any** watercraft tied to the dock during a storm, high winds, or severe weather is strictly prohibited, **regardless of the vessel's weight**.
* **Property owners do not provide overnight boat storage, mooring, or specialized parking.** Guests must park their boat at their own risk, or trailer their boats in and out each day using the local Sands Park boat launch.
* Guests are **fully liable** for any damage, shifting, or displacement caused by violating these rules. **A minimum fee of $200** will be charged for any necessary repairs or resetting.
**Pre-Existing Damage Notification**
Please inspect the dock immediately upon arrival.
* If you notice any issues or pre-existing damage, **you must alert management via the Airbnb app immediately** to avoid being held liable.
