About this property

Hale Kona Lanai • Ocean Views • Accessible Comfort

  • Whether you are traveling from near or far, it's always a relief to finally reach your destination.

For some, simply arriving at Hale Kona Lanai is the goal. Whether you choose to park in the designated parking space or unload at the curb and wheel your luggage up the ramp (whew... no steps!), you'll soon find yourself at the front door. Double-check your driving directions—the key code is included there, so there's no need to look it up again.

As you open the front door, you'll find yourself in a large open living area. E Komo Mai i Hale Kona Lanai... come inside and take a deep breath. Let your eyes wander and your senses awaken. Open the sliding glass doors and watch the curtains billow as they dance with the Kona tradewinds flowing down the mountain or in from the ocean, naturally cooling the hale, the house we call Hale Kona Lanai. As you look toward the horizon, can you tell where the Pacific Ocean ends and the sky begins?

To your immediate right is the Hoʻololi Room. Designed to adapt to your needs, it can be prepared with two twin beds or, upon request, converted into a queen bed.

As you continue down the hallway, you'll notice it is wider than 32 inches, allowing it to accommodate a standard wheelchair. On your left is a stacked washer and dryer—just enough to help keep your clothes fresh during your stay.

Next is the hall bathroom. Along with the everyday necessities, you'll find a walk-in shower, for convenience and ease of use (shower chair available upon request).

Continuing down the hall is the Aliʻi Room. This room was created to honor Hawaiʻi's royal families of the past while remembering their descendants of today. We hope the comforts of today add to your comfort while you're here.

At the end of the hallway is the primary suite, Puʻuhonua. A puʻuhonua is a place of refuge and comfort. Its spacious en suite offers plenty of room for two. Open the blackout curtains and the sliding glass door set within the picture window that spans the width of the room. Step onto the wrap-around lanai, where two chairs invite to sit a while.

***More about each room can be found in the individual room descriptions.***

Now let yourself wander onto the main lanai. While many homes have an indoor family room, Hale Kona Lanai's gathering place is outdoors under cover. Here you'll also find an outdoor dining area if you choose to enjoy a meal surrounded by Kona's fresh air. As you look toward the ocean, you might spot a whale during migration season or outrigger canoes training for their next race. If you're on the lanai at sunset, watch for the Green Flash. It appears only under certain conditions. One of those conditions is... don't blink, or you just might miss it!

As you continue around the wrap-around lanai, you'll discover another sitting area. Although connected to the main lanai, it feels surprisingly private. One of our guests told us she spent her afternoons there with her feet up, finally reading all the books she never had time to enjoy at home. She said she couldn't decide if she should read or just sit back and loose herself in the blue of the ocean.

Follow the wrap-around lanai through the gate and you'll find yourself back at the entrance. Step inside once more, this time turning left. The living room offers comfortable seating for family and friends, while the dining table easily seats six. Beyond it is the semi-open kitchen, spacious enough for more than one person to prepare a meal together. I've spent many mornings washing dishes while watching cruise ships anchored in the Pacific.

As you settle in, you may find yourself becoming part of nature, while nature quietly becomes part of you. Even though you're on a quiet cul-de-sac in the midst of a residential neighborhood, the songs of the birds are never far away.

For your safety, Hale Kona Lanai is equipped with exterior security cameras. The front entry also features security screen doors, allowing you to leave the main doors open so the tradewinds and the natural sounds of Kona can continue to flow through the home.

Hale Kona Lanai houses has lovingly enjoyed the stories, the laughter, the quiet moments of all those who enter. She stores and keeps those memories warm like a patchwork quilt. Hale Kona Lanai would love for you and your Ohana to add another dimension to the ever growing Quilt of Aloha.
