Pheasant Hill Cabin. A cozy cabin and dog friendly.
This quaint cabin is 1.5 miles from the heart of historical Julian, CA. A private property, this is the perfect place for a couple's getaway, a nice family vacation or even just a group of friends looking to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. A fenced back yard is perfect for a dog (note: our neighbors have dogs), while the enormous front deck allows for a great hang out spot and night time star gazing. The cabin is a studio layout with a queen bed and queen sofa bed. The kitchen has everything you could need for your stay including a full size fridge.
The cabin is on its own property and is not attached or shared by any other building.
Forested neighborhood of Kentwood-In-The-Pines, in the mountains is quiet, lots of birds. (and wild turkeys!)
Winter note: please be aware that it can snow in winter and you should check the weather conditions and be prepared with chains or a 4x4. Our road usually gets cleared but not always (our neighbor has a snow plow). Locals often park at the end of the driveway in snow to make access to the street easier.

Love this cabin for the quiet neighborhood. When sitting on the elevated deck you are in the trees. The owner had made some cozy changes. We really appreciate that the cabin is dog friendly with a private backyard. My husband and I have stayed at this cabin multiple times over the years. It will continue to be our favorite weekend getaway.
Pheasant Hill Cabin is a cozy place to stay. We loved hanging out on the deck overlooking the tall trees. The neighborhood was quiet and a great place to walk our dog. We especially appreciate that it's a dog friendly accommodation since we love to bring our dog with us on vacation. We also loved the short drive into town to go out to eat. We will definitely be staying at this cabin again.
We had a very nice stay. Comfortable and clean, and just as described.

This property is perfect for a couple with a dog on an overnight trip to Julian. Hubby and I live within 3hrs of Julian, so we just went for the day. The location of this cabin is literally 5 min driving outside of Julian.
The cabin has an open floor plan, the only privacy is the bathroom - for those traveling with friends/teenage kids.
Cabin felt very safe and secure. Location is pretty.
Easy check in and out.
Host was VERY responsive.
For location and price point, I loved it. Cabin was so cute! I l appreciated the little extras such as the fire pit on the deck, coffee, soap, toiletries, blankets, towels, etc.
The cabin is easy to find & immaculate…a stunning property inside and out. It is well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels, blankets, shampoo, & a very well put together binder with local attractions. The deck is a serene spot surrounded by gorgeous trees and a variety of birds. The cabin interior was inviting with wood paneled walls, a comfortable bed, an extra soft sofa, & pretty Aztec decor. The heater/AC unit worked quite well. The host was kind, welcoming, & organized. Check in & out are simple. This property made for a very restful get away. I definitely recommend.
We had our second stay at the cabin and everything was absolutely lovely. We will definitely be returning. The cabin is clean and very cozy. Great communication and fantastic accomodations.
A nice sized yard along with a nice front decking expands the living space of this property well. A entire notebook chalk filled with lots of good ideas of local attractions, restaurants, and places for hiking make this a very welcoming place.
Great little cabin far enough from downtown Julian but close enough to get to with a short drive. Very quiet and loved that it was pet friendly. We loved lounging on the deck watching the wild turkeys wander about the neighborhood. Lots of windows for ample sunshine and watch the snowfall. The host was very accommodating and kept me updated on the inclement weather. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and hope to make it back up there for a future stay.
Me and my party stayed for 4 days and it was amazing! The location is perfect, not too far away from the Main Street of Julian. Cabin was clean, FULL KITCHEN PROVIDED, both couches are pull outs and are pretty comfortable plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels also provided !! I will be definitely staying here again :)
The cabin was older but cozy. We enjoyed the rustic vibe! Matthew is a very responsive and accommodating host. Fast replies and I never was left hanging when I needed anything. Easy and smooth booking and check in/out. Great trip! Thanks!
The cabin is super cute. I thought it was a one bedroom. The main bed is off to a corner of the cabin and so has no privacy. It was fine, just not what I had expected as it was listed as a one bedroom. The foldout couch mattress was very thin so my sister slept on the couch and not on the mattress. We did not have any pets with us but it would work if you hasp a dog as the back yard was fenced. There were neighborhood dogs all around who barked all the time during the daytime. They were quiet at night. Seemed like people went off to work and left their dogs out in the yards, who then barked at any car or person who went by. The yards are not large so dogs are very close.
Fun getaway in the woods; especially if you have a dog
We have a small pooch and we like to be able to bring her along when we take vacations. This is a great place for such a getaway. We really enjoyed getting out on the deck in the evening for some star watching. Lots of windows to open up to allow cool breezes to flow through and to listen to the rustling of the tree.
This property exceeded my expectations! It was one of the few places that allowed us to bring our four dogs and it was perfect for them! The cabin is large and equipped with everything a guest would need. The host got back with me right away and was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Matthew!
Great place to stay- description is accurate and it was a great place for my dog:)
One thing that was not good is the shower- it’s really old and kind of yucky. The bathroom sink is super old too, but the shower is pretty bad.
Otherwise, great place!
We had a great stay here. It's a great open layout, most of the accoutrements you'd expect, a great yard for dogs, and a very effective gas fireplace if it gets chilly. It's very close to downtown Julian (5 minute drive) with tons to do (many dog friendly businesses, too). Ran into a couple snags and the host was quick to reply and work things out. Also, there's this great notebook on the coffee table that is extremely informative of the town and what you can do there. Highly recommended.
Lovely neighborhood walks were sprinkled with birdwatching, goats, turkeys, chickens, and loveable mountain dogs. We were entertained each day with Steller’s Jays gathering branches for their nests right outside the living room window.
Both evenings were spent viewing the spectacular night sky from the deck.
Perfect location, a short drive to town and the several trails which we hiked each day.
We look forward to returning.
I really enjoyed my stay at the cabin. It was quiet and private—perfect for a peaceful getaway. The highlight was definitely the interior. The inside of the cabin was thoughtfully designed, especially the cozy living area, which made it easy to relax and feel at home. Our cat, Sleepy Brown, also loved the cabin. He enjoyed exploring the space and spent a lot of time by the window, watching the trees and birds. It was a treat to see him so calm and curious. The only downside was the parking. It was a bit tricky to get into and easy to scrape if you’re not careful, so just be mindful when arriving.Overall, a great stay with a warm and inviting interior. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, private retreat—pets included!
This was our second stay at Pheasant Hill and can't wait to return. The space is exactly as pictured...it is studio style, but that works just fine for our family. There is plenty of space for my small children to play and for our dog to run around our back. Kitchen is stocked with basic tools and we were able to prep our meals easily (simple low prep).
Very quiet neighborhood, enjoyed coffee on the patio and star gazing at night.
We love all the windows to let us enjoy the views of the beautiful trees while inside.
Thanks again!!
