This was truly a great place to stay, and I really wish we had been able to stay for more than one night! Vippin was a gracious and thorough host, and his family is equally amazing! They made us feel welcome from our very first minute, and took care of us all the way until we left the next morning. Once we settled in, they arranged some excellent Tuk-tuk drivers to take us up to the fort so we could see that before the sun went down. Then, we had an excellent dinner on their rooftop dining area, with the food prepared by his wife and sister in law. They also helped us arrange some train travel for later in our week, and made sure we had a very nice and inexpensive taxi drive down to Udaipur the next day. These people care about their guests, and they treat you just like family every step of the way. The beds were comfortable, but a little wobbly. That is really just a nit-pick. Everyone in our group had a great night's sleep, and we all agreed that this was the best place we stayed at our entire trip (even better than the 4 star hotel in Kerala)!
A little advice. They are located in "Old City" and regular taxis won't go there. You'll need to hire Tuk-tuk's and I would highly recommend you contact Hem Guest House ahead of time. They told me that they would have made arrangements to have someone meet us, and it would have cost less than hiring a ride separately. They truly will go the extra mile, so please reach out to them ahead of your arrival, you'll be glad you did!
