Comfortable and Cozy
We loved staying in this farmhouse on our trip to Jefferson City (just 15-20 minutes away)! The property had a lot to offer, especially if you have kids! Everything was as described and better with all the little touches that make a getaway that much better. I enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. I slept right through the storms in a comfy bed with high thread-count sheets. My teenage daughter enjoyed sitting in the sun room to write her novel! And when the tornado warning came through that evening, we had the safety of a basement! 😉 The weather limited our outdoor time, which made me extra grateful for how comfortable and cozy the farmhouse was. And our hosts were very responsive when we needed anything! I highly recommend!

Our trip was in the bitter frozen winter weather and the home was toasty warm. The home was very very clean and quaint. Nice living room furniture bedrooms were very large and comfortable. The kitchen had all the equipment needed to prepare a large meal and the dining room table was suited for a king. The bathroom had a shower and the most wonderful deep tub for excellent soaking. The Farm house was on a direct route to Jefferson City an easy 15 minute drive. The hosts were pleasant and most accommodating answered questions quickly and allowed us to extend our visit by two more days. We would definitely recommend this vacation rental with a five star

Convenient and very comfortable with excellent communication
We stayed in the bitter, cold winter weather the home was warm and toasty. It’s a very quaint home very spacious, with large furniture, and was very comfortable. Bedrooms very large for a guest house. We were supplied with all the kitchen essentials. The home was only 15 minutes from Jefferson City, Missouri an easy drive. One could not ask for a nicer host. I would recommend this VRBO to anyone with a small group to 6 persons. We truly enjoyed our stay. Gina F..

Perfect resting spot on our road trip
This is such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Try to arrive when it’s light out or note that you’re going to Herman’s house because directions given may be general. The house is relaxing, comfortable and clean… it really was a perfect spot to stay on our travels. If you read other reviews, the petting zoo is no longer open and the only animals remaining are chickens. But the trails on the property are fun to walk and the hosts did an amazing job creating play areas for kids… we especially liked the sound garden where we could beat in pots and pans!

I booked this room for four of my employees who were working out of town. The guys said the hosts were accommodating and the property was nice. The only issue they had, and I knew this going into it was they only had one shower. Not the end of the world. Overall, they said it was a good experience.

Peaceful weekend getaway
Our group (4 adults, 2 kids) really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. The farmhouse was charming and kids loved the animals (goats, donkeys, cows, turkeys, bunnies, chickens, geese, peacocks, pigeons). Bring quarters for the feed machine so you can feed the goats. Also bring your walking shoes and take one of the trails in the woods. The hosts were accommodating and set up the fire pit with firewood for us as well as took us on a tractor ‘train’ ride two different days. There were plenty of blankets and towels for all guests, with a kitchen stocked with kitchenware. This made it easy to cook family dinner. We got to go into town and eat at the Westphalia Pizza Haus as well as picked up food and drinks from Paul’s Market. The place and town was quiet, though the Farmhouse is livelier in the fall when their pumpkin patch and Westphalia Trading Company are open for the season.

This property was such a fun place to take kids. I had three girls ranging from age 5-12 and they all enjoyed being there. You literally stepped out the back door and the petting zoo was right there.

We had a super time. This home and property are outstanding. Our two-and-a-half-year-old granddaughter sooooo enjoyed the animals, playground, and all the things to do. The hospitality was outstanding. You won't be disappointed!!!

A great, unusual getaway
The house is just north of Westphalia and on a farmer’s market / petting zoo. We try to go somewhere out of the ordinary for my wife’s birthday. We had hoped to take in some outdoor activities but weather did not cooperate. The home itself is very comfortable and enjoyable with all the modern conveniences such as wi-fi, flat screen, ect. Would be a great place to bring our grandkids when the petting zoo is open.

Perfect farm experience!
We love it here! This was our second visit and loved seeing the new baby animals and new bounce pad! The fun is endless from jumping in the corn, to the storybook trail, to feeding the goats, to playing in the sandbox. Bryan and Julie are so kind and accommodating, giving us a train ride, always helpful if we needed anything. Their hard work and creativity SHINE all around the farm. The farmhouse is so warm and cozy and CLEAN! We have so many fun memories and plan to make it a family tradition!

Kid Vacation!
Endless entertainment for kids! It was wonderful to walk out the front door and be at the petting zoo!! Tons of animals, toys and things to do on the Farm! My 4 year old was never bored. Farmers Bryan and Julie are the most hospitable Hosts giving you privacy but also making sure your needs and wants are met. The Greenhouse was filled with a wide selection of plants and flowers at very reasonable prices. My mom took some home as a souvenir! We will definitely be back to the Farm for many more adventures!

A homey getaway
From the sweet interactions with the farm animals to the spacious and clean home, our stay was very enjoyable. Our family watched movies, did puzzles, cooked, read, and relaxed. A great place to take it easy, and would highly recommend.

Great Stay!
The house was super clean and had a good "at home" feeling. We loved spending time with the animals and being able to walk around the property. The owners were great with responding in a timely manner. I really wish we would have planned to stay longer. This was a last minute find for us and so glad we found it. I think the house looks alot bigger in person. Looking forward to coming back.

Amazing vacation spot- even in the winter!
We had a wonderful time at Herman's House! The pictures don't do it justice! Very clean house, and pretty spacious too! We went in the winter when the petting zoo was closed but we had a wonderful time! Our kid (2.5 & 5) loved looking at all the animals and using the playground, slides, and games that were available. Would definitely come back! Owners were very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions.

Family getaway for the record books!
My husband, toddlers, dog, and I had an amazing time at Brian and Julie's petting zoo house! The house itself was lovely - very clean and comfortable. The property was incredible - so many animals to enjoy, toys and slides to play on, a story book trail to walk... so many things to explore in a very creative and inviting place. Brian and Julie could not have been more kind and welcoming. We loved talking with them about the property and animals. It is clearly a labor of love for them and they did a wonderful job of making us feel so welcome. The girls are already asking when we can go back. Thank you both so much!

Charming property
A perfect house and property for our family of five (including three kids ages 16, 14, and 12). Ideally, we like to stay in places with more than one bathroom, but otherwise this was the perfect stay! The animals were the highlight of our trip, and Julie the owner was gracious and friendly every time we needed her. Next time we’re in MO to see family, we’ll definitely be staying here again!

An Amazing Family Getaway
This was one of the best family trips we have taken. Julie and her husband were amazing hosts. The farmhouse was delightful with plenty of space for the 5 of us. The kids had an absolute blast. We couldn’t believe how many animals there were to see. We honestly can’t wait to come back. My mom will be coming next time, as she can’t wait to see the donkeys on the property! They make fresh donuts on the weekends, when the petting zoo is open. The benefit of coming early to stay before the weekend, is seeing the animals without the crowds. 2 nights wasn’t long enough!

A Million Stars!!!!
We LOVED our time at the Herman House! It was a great space for our family of 6 (ages 2-38)....clean, comfortable, well stocked, and relaxing! The farm was absolutely amazing! Our kids took it all in and felt very welcomed. The hospitality that Julie and Bryan offer is such a gift! My kids said they would rate it a million stars, and we agree! We were in town for a wedding in Jefferson City. It was a short and easy commute into the city! Thanks for a great mini vacation!

A delightful, perfect stay
Our family had to find some last-second accommodations for a quick visit to mid-Missouri; we were browsing through options and stopped in our tracks when we saw the property photos, and were thrilled to find that the house was available. The home was beautifully decorated, spacious, charming, and absolutely perfect for our family. Ownership was extremely communicative and friendly - on the day we left, we got a personal tour of the property, and the kids were overjoyed to feed the animals, and meet the baby goats and bunnies. So much of raising kids is about having memorable moments together, and I guarantee no one will ever forget the time we spent at this beautiful property in the rolling hills of mid-Missouri. It has our unconditional recommendation, and we absolutely intend to return.

We were very impressed with the orderliness and cleanliness of the Petting Zoo and vacation home. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcomed to freely enjoy the grounds. The convenience of plenty of towels, pillows, laundry detergent and other amenities were very appreciated. It was a bonus to wake up on the weekend to the smell of fresh donuts when the Petting Zoo was about to open!

What a fun stay we had a Mother daughter get away and it was perfect. Close to shopping and eating and great home and farm to stay and relax. Loved loved loved petting all the fur babies. Thank you for such a great stay.

Worked well with family. Cute with country antiques and some modern touches. Wish there was WiFi and more tv channels. Slept well. Easy access. Nice owners. Wish there was more than one bathroom but we managed.
