Japariz Beach is a stretch of sand backed by a few seafood restaurants and a hostel. It is accessible via the boats and schooners that regularly depart from the island’s main town, Vila do Abraão. Rest with a book in the shade of the almond and palm trees in this secluded cove.

Sit at one of the tables spilling out from restaurants onto the sand. Shrimp and other local seafood delights are perfect for a tasty lunch. Enjoy the fresh seafood as you listen to the soothing sound of the waves. You can often check out the menus and pre-order on the boat rides to the beach. Some of the schooners and speedboats also serve meals onboard.

Lie on the sand and enhance your tan on this scenic beach. Cool down with a swim in the refreshing water of the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the remote location of the beach, it has a serene and tranquil ambiance. Bring snorkeling gear for a clearer look at the colorful fish in the blue-green water.

Take photos of the stunning scenery of verdant hilly forests and colorful boats bobbing on the sparkling water. Trek along the T3 trail that meanders through the Atlantic rainforest. If you’re not on a tight schedule, look for the Church of Santana, built in 1843 at the initial point of settlement of the island.

Japariz Beach is in a secluded region on the northern tip of Ilha Grande. Travel from Vila do Abraão by one of the speedboats or schooners, which usually wait at the beach for about 60 to 90 minutes before taking you back. You can also arrive here by hiking or mountain biking and stay overnight at an inn. Visit some of the other sights in the area, such as the Blue Lagoon, Ponta Rapozinho and Baleia Beach.
