Room was clean and nicely presented. Breakfast service was not so great, left without drinks for half an hour while the only member of staff went to cook the breakfast! Managed to find some apple juice at the back of the restaurant. Was given no instruction apart from your table is in the window! No toast offered. No cold drinks/cereals offered!

Good BnB option for exploring South Hams

Super friendly helpful bar lady who checked me in & cooked a fab full english breakfast. Room is simply furnished. Shower is hot & powerful. Good quality sheets & towels. Town of modbury is worth walking through. 2 drawbacks in the room...very soft mattress & 'old' odour when entering the room (not masked by the oil sticks) Parking is a nuisance - it is next to the pub - a council run long term park...must pay at 8am daily (or on arrival) or fined. (This was a nuisance as lie in impossible! But you could download the app for an additional fee) The pub is relatively quiet and street & pub peaceful after 11pm.

No one here for breakfast 9am Monday 29th wanted to charge us I showed booking 2 nights b&b wanted to argue the point not what it says in the book not happy to provide breakfast did it anyway yesterday 28th breakfast and service lovely room lovely Monday morning big disappointment but have see this happen before on reviews need to buck up 😡

Very friendly personal service. Went beyond to ensure we were fed a breakfast even though we had to leave very early. Clean and tidy, good pub grub bar meals, salad bar included. Well kept beers. Curry and a pint... £ 10, how can you go wrong. Definitely recommend.

No attention to detail. Shame.

Pros: Lovely location Clean bed Clean shower Cons: Very noisy. Water pump went off every 5 mins between 11pm and midnight. Loud music being played in bar up til 1am. Used bottle of water left in room by previous guest. Provided with 2x UHT milk for cup of tea one of which was already opened. Tried to use the UHT cream instead but it was solid when opened. I have never seen UHT thimbles go off before!! Stayed 2 nights but tea tray not replenished on second day. Staff seemed to be disinterested at best. Clutter throughout upstairs areas in way to bedrooms.

The property looks inviting and well maintained outside. Inside it could do with some updating in places. The separate back entrance allows for both flexibility when getting back late and for privacy. The single room was clean and well maintained with a good size en-suite bathroom with shower. I found the bed uncomfortable as it seemed to tilt slightly. Worst was the traffic going right past the window.

Property looks pretty from the outside in a quaint village. Inside it's very dated and rundown. Staff were friendly but no breakfast served on our last day, disappointing. We arranged the night before to have breakfast at 8am but when we came downstairs it was dark and dirty dishes left out on the counter from the night before. We waited for 15 mins and then left as we had a long drive ahead. We stayed 3 nights and the room was not cleaned at all during our stay. Coffee cups left dirty in our room. On arrival the toilet had not been flushed and the shower had a half empty shower gel bottle in it, not cleaned. Having run a B&B myself for many years I found this unacceptable.

Stayed 1 night after wedding we attended in the area. TV did not work. Mattresses were awful with very poor support. No bin in room or bathroom. Staff very friendly but a poor experience overall

warm welcome and generous food, especially good breakfasts, modern well appointed room. the problem is that this is trying to be a hotel when it is run and feels like a large, poorly attended, sports bar pub,. There is a rather run down side staircase to the rooms, past an open store area and sealed door to street, across a closed upper bar and through four toilets to reach the rooms. It is owned by a brewery who clearly don't know whether to invest in a hotel or simply own a pub. It is also in Modbury, not in Ivybridge as stated on your site, which the receptionist pointed out on the phone fortunately before we got there.

Booked The White Hart Hotel for Tuesday 21/5/19 as me & my colleague were attending a course next day and had to be there before 9am. The night before we were asked what time we would like breakfast and informed them 7:30am. The next morning we went to the dining room and found it was in darkness. Approx. at 7:50am a lady arrived and asked us what time we wanted breakfast, we replied that we booked it for 7:30 her answer was "the chef had not got up yet as he had a heavy night out!!!!" When we finally got our breakfast, about 8:20, the lady had to cook it, we had to eat it quickly due to the course starting at 9am and we still had to find the course venue (it was instructed that we needed to arrive 10mins before the course start time). We feel that it was very unprofessional of the chef and for the hotel to accept this behavior. Due to this we would not choose to stay there again and would not recommend either.
