The Brunswick
10/10 Excellent
"The room was very clean, adequate and certainly befitted our needs. The staff were most helpful, particularly the waiter called Andy whose sense of humour kept us entertained at breakfast. The small pool was a bonus. Unfortunately the jacuzzi was not in use whilst we stayed at the Brunswick Hotel."
"Great base to explore IOW (by car), nowhere is very far away.Enjoyed visiting Godshill, Shipwreck Centre, Carisbrooke Castle, Newtown Nature Reserve, Freshwater Bay (great waves!), Cowes, Sandown, Ventnor and Shanklin. Also climbed Bembridge Windmill and had lunch at St Helen's beach.Had a boiler breakdown on first morning so had no hot water for 4 days, happened on the Friday so difficult to find someone to repair it. The home owners were very apologetic (no-one's fault) and did all they could and we managed boiling some water in the kettle. We did enjoy our stay, thank you."
Beautiful modern 3 bedroom penthouse, a stone's throw from the beach.
8/10 Good
"Positives: Lovely place. We went as a family of five. It was deceptively spacious, the photos did not do the kitchen & living space justice, as we had an expectation that it would be a very small flat. It was very large and all the bedrooms had so much space. It goes without saying that the view was stunning, and the property had everything you needed. I was so happy to have access to the hoover to be able to clean up after my kids and put a wash load on before coming home.. much to my husband’s disapproval!! it was immaculately decorated and felt like a real home, rather than an empty soulless property. whilst Ventnor itself is a little rundown and outdated, where this property is located, you have some nice coffee shops & restaurants. We had dinner at all 4 of the restaurants, walking distance from home and were very pleased. Negatives: the main bedroom has a feather duvet, and it was so hot to sleep under. I would recommend bringing a thin double duvet if you come in the summer. I’m sure it’s lovely and cozy in the winter! The bunkbed mattresses were awful. It was like laying on a bed of springs, to the point where when I stripped the bed, the sheet was caught on one of the springs which was sticking out of the mattress! Would recommend replacing these. Very uncomfortable for anyone over the age of 3.Not a host issue but an app issue, VRBO has different check-in times. Host sent us the wrong key code, the old cleaner helped us access the key. "
"Fantastic family holiday, comfortable accommodation, with lots of history to the building, and with amazing views, especially the sunsets. Great location for walks on the downs. Any questions we had were answered promptly.we all thoroughly enjoyed.thanksPaul"
The Granary at French Mill: charming cottage set in extensive garden with stream
10/10 Excellent
"Stunning property & grounds with a beautiful stream & gardens galore. Historic grain mill turned into an adorable cottage with all the amenities. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others. Especially fabulous for families, our boys adored staying in the Romany Wagon! We were fortunate to meet the owners, Rebecca & Guy, who are lovely hosts. Very close to both the ferry port & sights we visited. "
