Below basic - feels like a Hostel

Unfortunately, this hotel falls far below basic standards. We definitely overpaid for what we received—it felt more like a hostel than an actual hotel. At £130 per night, we expected a much better room. If the price had been £40-£50, it would have been more acceptable, but at this rate, it was extremely disappointing. We didn’t get the room that was advertised. The photos showed a room with two double beds, but in reality, we received a small double bed and a single bed. To make matters worse, the room was located underneath the staircase, with no natural light at all. The noise was another major issue. The hotel is situated right next to Hostel Tribu, a party hostel. Over our three-night stay, two nights were filled with loud parties and pounding bass music that continued late into the night. The one redeeming feature of this hotel is its location—very central and within a few minutes’ walking distance of the center and the beach. However, for the price, there are plenty of better options nearby. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

En general el hotel no está mal, en mi caso en particular hicimos la reservación mediante la página de Hotels, donde decía que incluye Wifi y toallas de playa, lo que no dice es que el wifi solo es en la recepción, ya que no llega hasta los cuartos y cuando pedimos toallas de playa, nos dijeron que ya no las daban, en cuanto al servicio, limpieza y trato de los empleados, no tengo queja, me pareció excelente, el precio me parece bien acorde a lo que ofrecen, repito una vez mas que mi única molestia es que es engañoso lo que te ofrecen en la página.

The property initially appeared clean but upon assessment there were missing sheets, a burn mark, and random stains on the covering, and accidental reveal of the mattress below (because the bed wasn’t made) showed a large blood or dark liquid stain at the head of the mattress. The towels were of poor quality and stained. The bathroom smelled like sewer and one night there was no water. The location was great for getting around Holbox but unfortunately that also meant extremely loud music until 4am every morning. Construction noise at the hotel also all day long from 10am- after 6pm. The hotel was pricey with no breakfast included. Despite paying in full at the hotel, the staff refused to modify any of the booking and were not helpful in providing any alternatives. I do commend the night security staff however whom were very helpful and polite in trying to find us alternative sheets. Would not recommend for anyone over the age of 23 or in any way sober

No me gustó nada. Pésimo estado de hotel. Las habitaciones parecen cuevas, oscuras, pésima iluminación, tapetes muy sucios. El internet solo funciona en la recepción. No tienen terminal para pago con tarjeta. El personal de recepción no está al pendiente de nada hasta que se le piden, comentan o reclaman las cosas. Hay hoteles al mismo costo con mucho mejores instalaciones y servicios. NO vale ni de lejos lo que cobran.

The location it’s great. BUT you can’t pay your reservation with card and they don’t give you a heads up before getting there. Since your in a Island it is very difficult to get cash. I wish they have tell us about their card payments before.

Das Zimmer war gut eingerichtet aber eher klein und hatte nur ein Fenster. Der Preis war zu hoch für das Zimmer. Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral und nahe vom Strand. Das Nachbarhotel hat oft laute Musik am Abend/Nacht.

The Macondo Holbox Hotel was well located, just 100 ft to the beach, and only a couple of blocks to the main part of town. The common areas were very nice and looked just like the listing showed. However the guest rooms (on the main floor) were no where near the pictures - not even sure if that is the same hotel! Rooms were VERY small and dark. Limited closet space and no dresser (there was no room for a dresser), and no chair. At least there was a table and chairs outside on the corridor. A/C worked very well, but plumbing was questionable. Toilets did not consistently flush well and overflowed once. Shower pressure was weak, and there was no where to put one's toiletries. If you plan on going, request an upstairs room. Staff (Fernanda and Carolina) were very sweet and helpful. They made the stay!

El servicio en el hotel muy malo en general, la señorita recepcionista es muy grosera y descortés, el hotel es sucio, no sale agua por la regadera, las habitaciones son obscuras y el hotel muy sucio, nunca barren ni limpiar los pasillos y aéreas comunes, está lleno de basura así como la isla, un verdadero asco! Que pena!

Todo bien en general, a excepción de una fuga en el lavabo del baño que hacia inseguro el piso ya que siempre estaba mojado. También puede mejorar las amenidades del baño ya que las tarifas son altas para la calidad que ofrecen para los huespedes.
