Bedroom had carpet stains which looked as though they had been there for some time Area outside bedroom needed weeding had to wait one hour each night for a table at dinner Staff were pleasant and helpful but appeared to be under stress at dinner

Thank you for your review Colin. We had a large group in for dinner both nights that you dined with us and unfortunately they took longer than anticpated to have their dinner which then had a knock on effect of the rest of the service.We are constantly deep cleaning the rooms on a rotational basis as due to business needs we are not always able to get the carpets cleaned all the time. We do have a gardener who is in the process of doing the grounds but due to the amount of rain we have had he has struggled to get out this year so far.I will pass on your kind words about the team and let them know that you appreciate their efforts and hard work.

The Strathburn has old fashioned charm. The staff went over & above to make our stay as pleasant as possible. They were very helpful & quick to respond to our needs. The Scottish breakfast each morning was hot off the grill & the dinner we had was very tasty.

The rooms are dated which is not a significant issue but the walls between rooms are paper thin to the point you can hear conversations clearly. The front of the hotel faces a busy road which was very noisy from 6am onwards. The road was very quiet in the evening.

Thank you for your review David, unfortunately the walls are quite thin and the road which goes past the hotel is one of the 2 main roads in and out of the town.

Lovely friendly place to stay Breakfast is very good & Fresh made. Great to see it open to the public again. In time would be nice to see new carpets in bedroom’s & some rooms with walk in showers but it all takes time.😁Have stayed 3 times since opened & will be definitely back.

Was not impressed with the room in the least which was suppost to be a Superior room, wouldn't of liked to of seen the standard. Both mornings no hot water in the shower complained the first morning to be told no its not cold water its tepped !! it was cold. Booked the hotel for the food reviews as travel all over the country with work and fancied trying something different so tried the Fish Goujouns turned out to be fish fingers. Lesson learned dont stay here again

I am sorry to hear that your stay wasn't up to expectations. We have investigated the issue with the shower and found that there is a fault with the shower itself. I'm sorry that your were disappointed with your meals which is a bit of a surprise as we have had so much good feedback about it.

Great, old-fashioned comfort
There was nothing fancy about the bedroom (which I like), but the bed was supercomfortable, the room had everything we needed including good wifi, was warm on a very cold night, and the bathroom was fine. The shower was in the bath, but that meant there was a bath option. The food was excellent: old-fashioned Scottish cooking at its best, and breakfast was delicious, all at a very reasonable price. We'd definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Decent hotel. A few little faults
The hotel was clean. Room 22 had a broken shower head holder which made it difficult to shower. The water in the morning was only luke warm. The toilet seat was broken. The room was clean and warm. I would stay again but would hope i didn't find the same kind of faults.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
Possibly the worst overnight stay I have ever experienced! From checking in to warm water running from the cold tap & the mattress like a slab of concrete it was awful. Had to get up at 6am as my back was so sore I couldn't lie in the bed any longer. The shower was useless, not much more than a trickle of water. Then when I tried plugging my hairdryer into the socket next to the dressing table it didn't work. Eventually after unplugging, switching on & off it worked. I tried to charge my phone using the same socket (only one I could find without moving a bed!) but it didn't work! I then plugged in my GHD's, they beeped, light came on then there was an electric static noise from the socket and my GHD's cut out. Tried a different socket but no joy. Changed the fuse when I returned home but they are fried and now in the bin :-( The owner/manager's attitude was shocking to say the least. Re the tepid water from cold tap, he said it's 17 degrees outside what do you expect?! Used a meter to test the socket and I was told it was perfectly ok. I then plugged in all my appliances and none of them worked. His response was my phone and appliances were dodgy!!! He then queried why I had booked a twin room? I actually booked a single & was given a family room. I showed him my booking on Hotels App he refused to look at it. I told him the booking was irrelevant and that the problem was with his faulty wiring. He didn't charge me for my stay but I wouldn't have paid anyway!

We were attending a nearby wedding, checked in, then returned late after function finished, had no problem with late entry code. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast in morning was first class.

It’s a little pricey but the staff here are beyond excellent. The service and dining experience have been exceptional. Our television had issues when we got to our room but the staff were immediately accommodating and switched out the televisions. We are from the U. S. and I was a little hesitant when we first checked in because the carpets and rooms are a little worn but the staff is so great it immediately makes up for it. We have a late flight out of Aberdeen, the person at reception picked up on that immediately and arranged a late check out. It is a great place.

The hotel was fine. My expectations were not high and they were met. I will say the bed was hard as a rock and the room was small and oddly shaped...I felt a little bit like Harry Potter under the stairs.

I stayed two Nights in a twin room.
I stayed two Nights in a twin room. The staff were very helpful, friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was very good, great variety and choice and a very high standard of quality fayre. The room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel however the decor and room bedding / curtains were dated. The bed was exceptionally hard, no yield in it at all. The twin room bore no resemblance to the room in the gallery photographs. This hotel seems stuck in the 1980's. For £115 per night I did expect a littlemore 4 star rather than a good 3 star.

Great hotel, exceptionally clean
An older style privately run hotel on the outskirts of Inverurie. Friendly staff, rooms are exceptionally clean, great size with most of the usual features big bathroom with full sized bath, thick white fluffy towels, proper tissues and toilet roll, huge car park, nice quiet location. The rooms would benefit from a fridge and heavier curtains. The restaurant menu could do with updating as most dishes were heavy. my steak came out stewed and grey in colour rather than grilled as the menu suggested I asked for salad instead of veges but both came out. Vegetables including the onion rings were soggy and over cooked, the salad was crisp and fresh. Service was great. I would definitely stay here again, great wee hotel.

A happy stay
A friendly hotel with charming staff. When we stayed it had been closed for Christmas and our room Had a stale aroma The breakfast was delightful and the Staff charming and helpful. It made the drive to meet family seem worthwhile. A pleasant hotel
