There were way more amenities than I could use; loved all the tables and open kitchen. I didn't see anyone else while I was there. It was SO USEFUL to have an affordable private room with a large floor area and bench to repack for a week in the back country after getting off a plane. Everything was - simple. But clean and well maintained. And walking distance to several food and gear shops. And only 10 minute walk to downtown.
Checked in, went to my private economy room. While things were clean and tidy at a glance, the many stains on pillows, linens, and lack of protective liners/ bed covers were troubling. Paired with an unpleasant smell throughout the building, I immediately checked out and booked elsewhere. This was not a hostel experience I have seen before. I have no comment on the shared rooms.
A very pleasant hostel, fantastic kitchen, fully stocked for use. Each room separate, shared bathroom facilities but each shower separate cubicle. Great for us for a one night stay but easily could stay longer
The hostel is perfect for this price.
The location is great, with a beach and picnic area just a 2-minute drive away.
There are also gas stations and fast-food places nearby.
I don’t know why the reviews are so bad. After reading them, I was expecting the worst, but overall, our stay was great.
The kitchen, bathrooms, and washrooms were clean and smelled good. The guy who hosted us was friendly as well. We arrived about two hours before check-in, and they kindly let us check in early.
We stayed in an economy room on the first floor. The other people staying at the hostel were also nice and friendly.
The kitchen had everything we needed, and the bed was comfortable and clean.
The building itself is old, so you can’t expect anything high-end.
However, considering the price, I think it was a great place to stay.
Overall, I would definitely come back!
You might find it as cheap. But,it is a terrible place.Very very old and and not maintained in good condition..Philthy,untidy place

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Reasonable accommodations at a reasonable price. Staff were helpful. Beds were clean. Has that certain mountain hostel smell that comes from snow and sweat and gear. Mind you, this was the summer.
Overall happy enough with the accommodations. Enjoyed playing pool.
In some regard you get what you pay for I suppose, and never having been at a hostel, maybe it is to be expected, but I can’t imagine so. First, out front the whole time we were there were three people sitting by the front door smoking and possibly more, covering the sidewalk with butts and garbage. Once we got in the place reeked of either mildew or feet, it was bad. No AC of course so the room was probably 85 degrees. The best part was when my son in law wanted to take a shower, he called for a towel (which you have to go outside to do, as that is where the phone for the manager is). We were sitting in the room waiting with the door open, and the mgr came by, threw the towels on the floor in our room without saying a word, and took off. We were speechless, and I advised against putting anything that touched that floor anywhere near anyone’s face. I’ve stayed in cheap hotels before but nothing was like this. The odor alone should steer anyone away.
Stayed for 4 nights while skiing Panorama with my roommate. We chose the room with a bunk bed. Friendly staff, amazing amenities, such as a large kitchen with tables, multiple lounge area with sofa and tables where guests can relax or even do some work on their computers. Pool table to entertain young people. If you are traveling solo or pairs and want to save money on accommodation, this is your place, not to mention money saved by cooking your own food in the kitchen rather than eating out everyday.

We booked for a 3 days...but after 2 days we left the house. The Woshrooms are outside of the room...3:00 a.m. you going to woshrooms...but in the salon, som gays are playing cards .We felt yourselfs unsafe. This please is not for families...is cheap but not for families....
Would not recommend. Horrible customer service. Management was horrendous to deal with. Lied right to my face about being able to refund for stay that didn’t even end up occurring.

The only problem was the rusty mold smell that was on ground floor. It was hard to breathe.
