Secluded "Hidden Heaven" Vintage Cabin on Strawberry Creek, Walk to town

“Old Idyllwild” charm. Authentic mountain cabin built in 1923, right on the edge of Strawberry Creek (literally). You can open any window in the cabin and hear the seasonal creek running through Idyllwild. A short, lovely 10 minute walk (4/10 of a mile) from the center of town. Secluded location hidden from road, surrounded by beautiful grove of pines, redwoods, oaks and dogwoods. A perfect retreat to reconnect and rejuvenate. Home is also walking distance to the local creekside amphitheater. Stop by there on the weekend during the summer to enjoy concerts in the park. Or listen from the back deck the sound of music filtering through the trees.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE BOOKING:

Streaming services are available, but guests must log in using their accounts.
This vacation rental is not equipped with air-conditioning.

-Cancellations: Bookings canceled at least 60 days before the start of the stay will receive a full refund, with a $150.00 cancellation charge. Bookings canceled at least 30 days before the start of the stay will receive a 50% refund, plus a $150.00 cancellation charge.
No Cancellations are Allowed for November, December, and January.

- NO ANIMALS ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. SERVICE ANIMALS ARE NOT ALLOWED DUE TO THE HOMEOWNER BEING ALLERGIC. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Check-in instructions: On your arrival day, the reserving guest will receive a text with check-in instructions between 3:30 and 4:00 PM. Please stop by our office to retrieve your key from the lockbox.

- Parking: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

- Outdoor lighting: Please note that outdoor lighting must comply with Riverside County regulations and must not blink, flash, or rotate. Guests will be held liable for any "light trespass" on surrounding properties.

- County permit number: 001440

- Rental agreement: Please review our rental agreement for our house rules. You will receive an emailed version to sign, but if you prefer other options, please inquire.

- Age restrictions: Due to the new County of Ordinance 927.2: We no longer accept reservations for anyone under 21 years of age.

- Confirmation: Upon booking this property through Airbnb, New Spirit Vacation Homes will send you a direct email confirming your reservation. Attached to this confirmation will be a contract you need to review, sign, and send back within 24 hours.

- Incidentals: We reserve the right to request payment for any incidentals. This includes but is not limited to firewood, pet fees, special occasion requests, personal grocery drop-offs, pay-per-view movies or sporting events, and damaged property.

Guests booking this home under the age of 25 years of age will provide an additional insurance for $70.00 non-refundable on the day of arrival.

Wonderful place!

Our stay was wonderful. The place is very comfortable and well maintained. Nestled in the trees with plenty of shade. A classic cabin in the woods. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment and basic necessities. Having the creek within view behind the deck is wonderful.

Relax in Idyllwild

We went up for the weekend for some relaxation. The sound of the creek was "heaven" and only a short walk to town for eats. The deck overlooking the creek was spacious and we will definitely be back.

IIdyllwild Getaway

The cabin is charming, well equipped, and ideally located. We had a problem with one shower fixture and they sent somebody out to fix it very quickly. I’d be happy to stay there again.

True to its namesake

I don't believe in a love at first sight for people but I do believe in it for places and that's exactly what happened when we arrived here: we fell in love. My mother was already planning our next visit when she first stepped in. The cabin is absolutely beautiful. Everything from the furniture to the decorations to the homely touches encapsulates everything that we love about Idyllwild: it's timelessness, it's humility, it's grace, it's charm, it's simplicity. We are definitely going to return here, sooner rather than later.

PEACEFUL CABIN IN THE WOODS

Reviewer Comments: This is a peaceful cabin, set well back from the street, with space for a full family with a large table in the dining area and lots of seating around the wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is well supplied, all appliances work well. We enjoyed the gas grill and especially enjoyed waking up to the sounds of birds and little animals. The creek was pretty low, but expect it would be lovely to hear when it is full.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My brother and I had a wonderful brother's getaway weekend at this super charming and cozy hidden heaven hideaway. Loved the authentic retro vibes, the babbling creek just outside, woodland visitors on the back deck (had woodpeckers, blue jays, robins and grey squirrels all on the back porch trees at one time). Lots of snow prevented us from driving to town, so we walked. It wasn't far and was quite nice to do so. Everything was comfortable and clean, and the rental company was helpful, friendly and accommodating -- and the rental price was very reasonable, especially in comparison to the big rental sites and other more popular nearby mountain towns. It was our first time to Idyllwild, despite living in LA for most of our lives, and we loved it. Not an 'active' town like Big Bear or Arrowhead. More sleepy, hippie and artistic, which is/was our speed generally anyway. If this cabin allowed dogs, we'd be back with the whole family on a regular basis. But since it doesn't, and we understand that - this is a pristine 1930's cabin - we'll just have to keep it as our brothers-only getaway.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I rented this cozy cabin for my husbands 40th birthday as a nice respite from Los Angeles. We were greeted in a very friendly and thoughtful manor and my husband was given a birthday cupcake! We arrived at the cabin and loved the rustic, yet well maintained property! It was surrounded by trees and was along Strawberry Creek. Unfortunately the creek was dried up from the summer but we imagined what it would look like in the spring! We appreciated the well stocked Kitchen pan, utensils and other ware need to make a wonderful meal! The one thing we were let down by was that was created a fire later that evening. it was fine for about ten minutes and then the entire cabin filled with smoke! This put a huge damper on our stay! We made sure the window was open, flew was open and the firewood was towards the back of the fireplace! We did notice that the rocks in the front of the fireplace were very blackened so I imagined this has happened before. We then tried to use the DVD player as we rent a movie in town and it was broken. It had said error on the screen and the player, we tried everything including switching out dvds, to blowing inside to get rid of dust, so the evening was a bust! We did enjoy the morning after having breakfast outside on the patio among the trees! We did enjoy the cabin but we may not stay at this location again until we can make sure that the fireplace is functional!

Hidden Heaven Review

We wanted an older rustic style cabin with a great big stone fireplace. A cabin that felt like a trip backwards through time. Hidden Heaven is precisely that! Everything about this cabin was nostalgic. From the fresh smell to the warm thick blankets available for you to wrap yourself in during the cold nights. Also, it’s location! Less than a 10minute walk to the center of town via the trail path behind the cabin. We cannot wait to stay again!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is my third time staying here, and it never disappoints. I never want to leave! The only suggestion I would make is the lighting needs improvement. I know we're going for cozy cabin lighting, but I needed a flashlight to cook and do a puzzle in the middle of the day. Just upping the brightness on the bulbs a little would make a big difference and make the stay even more enjoyable. Another thing - we accidentally locked ourselves out upon arrival because we didn't realize the doorknob had an automatic lock on it, and there didn't seem to be any Plan B for that circumstance. Luckily we were able to resolve the situation on our own, but otherwise I have no idea what we would have done because it seemed that no one was available to help at all. It seems like an emergency plan should be in place for this kind of thing.

Adorable

We stayed here for a wedding that took place at the Harvey House up the street and it was super easy to walk to and from the venue. The house is adorable and you feel like you’re staying at grandma’s house. Very cozy, very clean. I accidentally locked myself out of the house and they had someone there to let me back in within 15 min. The creek behind provided a beautiful background when out on the patio. Would definitely stay here again.

The cabin was a hidden haven.

This lovely cabin was tucked into the hillside overlooking a creek. It was a beautiful setting, secluded but close to town. There was a nice nature path behind the cabin that took you to town. There were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms that allowed each couple their privacy. A good place to read by the fire and enjoy nature.

The creek in your backyard Full of birds, fully stocked kitchen, Very comfortable beds and bedding and hot showers. They could use Some higher powered lightbulbs. Every spice you could even think of is there. It is furnished as you would expect a law car cabin with the modern conveniences.

Reviewer Comments: This darling cabin is nestled among the pines, right next to a running stream- couldn't have asked for a more tranquil and beautiful setting! We thoroughly enjoyed the setting and the ability to walk into town was a bonus. Cabin had all the amenities one could want....highly recommend this beautiful home! One thing to note- we were in Idyllwild when the temps were unusually high (95 degrees!). There is no AC in this cabin; however, I will say because of its location, the cabin remained cool and the evenings were very comfortable. The cabin had several large fans available, as well.
