Stunning hotel, with great service!

I had the most memorable experience during my anniversary celebration, everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived, Mikey the valet was incredibly helpful and check in was smooth at front desk. I mixed-up my dinner reservation, but Johnny made sure we were well taken care of. Mike provided outstanding service during our dinner at the restaurant, and Dennis at the front desk gave us excellent local recommendations. Truly a fantastic stay!

The space was clean and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The tours were not readily available, but the space was open to view some of the property. The room did not meet my expectations for “deluxe” but it was clean.

A relaxing, quiet stay at Oheka. We took the tour and the history behind both the original and current owners is fascinating! Our rooms were spacious and so comfortable. Food was excellent at the restaurant. We'd definitely love to visit again!

This hotel is the mansion of Otto Kahn, one of the titans of finance in America. The mansion and grounds exhibit refined elegance. The staff was courteous and the room was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

My daughter was dying to stay here for her tenth birthday. We surprised her and booked a Whitney room and had dinner with our large family. The facility is world-class. We loved every minute of our stay. The room was so elegant! Service was above and beyond!

Beautiful estate, restored to its former glory! Very comfortable bed, it was peaceful & quiet, and the bathroom was amazing. Also, vaulted ceiling in the room with a sky light.

Beautiful old world property! It felt like Europe! I would definitely stay again! Just a tip try to stay on the 3rd floor because it’s much nicer. We got upgraded because the what wasn’t working in our room on the fourth floor.

Attractive building and grounds. Large rooms; a little dated but fits the character. Good value overall for a weekend in Long Island. Can be noisy on a Saturday night if there’s a wedding. Breakfast is included but is a little rough and ready. Nice restaurant on property but a bit pricey. Very friendly and welcoming staff.

The building and grounds are unique and impressive. It is more of an event venue than a hotel for individual travelers. The room was of good size, with a 3 compartment bathroom with a separate shower, vanity and toilet/tub room but overall the room lacked convenience features of most modern hotels e.g. mini-frig, coffee/tea maker. The king bed could use a new mattress. This double-king room only had 1 chair and nowhere else to sit except on the bed, it also only had 1 bathrobe. Although the staff expressed a desire to please, No mention of guest breakfast when we checked in.,we were only given vague instructions on how to find our room, an alarm panel in the lobby beeped for hours. Be prepared to carry your luggage up a long flight of stairs to get to the level with the elevator.

The Oheka Castle, also known as the Otto Kahn Estate is an absolute amazing hotel and a magnificent attraction located in the North Shore Of Long Island. In March of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself for a great weekend stay at the Oheka Castle to celebrate our Happy Five Year Wedding Anniversary. Built between the years, 1914-1919, the castle once served as the principal residence of Otto Herman Kahn, one of the 20th Century’s most successful investment financiers and philanthropist. Oheka Castle is the largest private home in New York State and the second largest in the United States. Today, the castle is owned by Gary Melius, a prominent Long Island developer and functions as a luxury hotel, conference center, and as a wedding events venue. Due to its immense beauty and grandeur, Oheka Castle has hosted several celebrity weddings ranging from Curtis Martin, Kevin Jonas & Brian McKnight. The castle has also been prominently featured throughout popular culture, such as its appearance in films, Citizen Kane, What Happens In Vegas, and music videos, Beyoncé’s Haunted & Taylor Swift’s Blank Space. During our weekend stay, both my wife and I were captivated by the elegance and opulence of the castle, it’s gorgeously designed architecture, and were deeply impressed with the estate’s majestic landscape, superbly manicured lawns and the highly decorative Otto Kahn office. We opted to stay at the Oheka Castle primarily for the "wow" factor. After all, how often does one get to stay in a 1920s faux-Versailles mansion? It definitely did not disappoint on the weird and wonderful front, but it was not entirely what we expected. The mansion was redone from near ruin 20 years ago, but not at anything like museum restoration level. The shelves in the library, just as an example, are stacked with used bookstore castoffs. The curtains and other furnishings in the rooms are OK knockoffs of what they should be, but are already showing their age. The hotel is clearly set up for large events like weddings (and has some nice spaces for that) rather than passing guests. We felt like we were just about the only guests in the place, walking through the echoing halls seeing the occasional staff member and no one else. As a location, Oheka is an island. Other than the neighboring golf course, there isn't anything around it other than houses. The parterre garden at one end of the hotel is a pleasant place to stroll, but once you have done that and walked those echoing halls, you've pretty much run out of things to do. The in-house restaurant was good, as much for the people-watching as anything else. The hotel staff also matched the whole aimed-but-missed-the-target feel of the place. Friendly, certainly, and casual almost to a fault. But they definitely contributed to the amusing -- and bemusing -- nature of the experience of Oheka Castle.
