Beautiful setting
The cabin is in an excellent location on the river with a spectacular view. The outside deck is a very nice addition to the cabin ecpeience and enhances the stay.

Great getaway

Wonderful property
Quaint cabin, wonderful hosts! We loved the fenced in deck, it was perfect for our dog. The property was just as described. We would definitely stay again! Prompt communication with the host.

This is the review you're looking for
The owners really went out of their way to think of the little things. They had relaxing music playing as we entered, firewood was layed out for us and all the little amenities provided so we needed minimal stuff from home. It was nice and clean and the property itself was amazing. We visited in March it was super cold and the heat wouldn't get up past 68 degrees inside the cottage which led to extra cooking and snuggling to help keep warm. We woke up every morning to 66 degrees inside. It's not quiet and is off a busy highway but those are the only downsides. I can imagine how beautiful this place would be in the spring/summer where you could really use the property for all that it has to offer. It's close to town but far enough away to feel like you're really in the middle of nowhere. No close neighbors and coming from the city we liked that very much. We do plan to return and we would recommend this when looking to stay in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review! We do not regulate the thermostat and we allow our guests to adjust the temperature to their liking. If we had known there was an issue adjusting the temperature, we would have immediately addressed the problem. After reading your review, we contacted our guests that just checked in and found out a previous guest had put permanent holds on certain times of the day. We cleared all of that out of the programming and the cabin is heating correctly now. For future reference, please, always contact us with any concerns. Relaxing time
We stayed the week of Christmas as a get away. Enjoyed the the hime and had a very relaxing time. It had everything we needed. Lots of nice little touches. The weather was rainy and dreary so we didn’t get to enjoy the area as we would have liked. Looking forward to visiting again in the spring.

They've redeemed private rentals for me
I've had a few bad rentals in my past so I've been leery to rent something like this again. But I wanted a lake/river side cabin type rental for a few days in the middle of nowhere to take my dogs and found this place. First, they allow any size dogs, which is great because so many places limit 25 or 50lbs and less, which I don't have. Having a 110lb dog that looks like a black bear severely limits my rental options. And their pet fees are very reasonable. Checkin/out is simple enough. But right on arrival, before even going inside, there is evidence they are good hosts. There are 2 fire pits and they have firewood available, which they have chopped and all lined up and set out in separate piles for easy grabbing. Despite being surrounded by trees, the yard had been cleared of leaves. and Upon going inside, the place was immaculately clean, beds made. The place was gorgeous and even had ambient music playing. I had brought 2 dogs and they even had left 2 treats specifically for them, which was absolutely amazing. The rules are not overbearing, just basic ones about towels and such that are more than understandable. The place has clearly been well thought out and set up for many different types of people in mind. My dogs loved being able to roam freely on the completely enclosed porch, as well as having a large yard to play in. I don't rent cabins or anything often but they definitely made me want to rent from them again in one of the warmer months.

JUST WONDERFUL!!
We enjoyed every minute of our stay. I really can’t praise this property enough. We walked in, the light were on and soothing music was playing. The house was immaculate and I could tell that a lot of thought went into the planning of making their guest welcome. The kitchen was well stocked from dish ware to bakeware. The deck was wonderful, my little dog loved being on it and every evening we had a fire. In the mornings, down to the river we would go and sit for an hour or so on the Amish built swing. I liked all the amenities, very clean, well stocked, lots of space for 4 people... Beautiful water views, hot tub is clean and quickly gets hot. The fire pit was excellent for grilling vegan meals too. We enjoyed the wine and pumpkin bread :) The outdoor shower was my favorite.

No power
The property owners seemed to be very nice. We stayed only `1 night because there was no power when we woke up. No power meant no water no toilet and no AC no internet or TV. It was actually 2 power outages. When the power came on it was only for 3 hours then out again. This was not the fault of the home owners. This happened because of a very bad storm during the night. We only received a small refund which was a surprise since VRBO said they got our backs. We got $300, we only stayed a day and a half. We paid for 5 nights. We left while the power was still out. We have no idea why the power went out the second time (no storm) but we could not continue to stay with no toilet or anything else.

We once again apologize for the inconvenience, as you stated it was beyond our control as homeowners. We did try our best to get answers from AEP in regards to why the power had gone out the second time and an ETA of the power being restored. It did come back on within a few minutes of your checking out. We had offered to give a refund for your unused nights if we were able to re-book them with another guest. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We did however, refund you approximately half of the balance of your stay ($300) and suggested if you had purchased trip insurance, to check with them to see if you could collect any money on that end. Understandably, most people do not purchase trip insurance, however, this may have been a circumstance in which it would have been helpful.

Cozy getaway
We loved the cabin it was nicely decorated and hot tub and fire pit was great. We had to clean the kayaks. They were full of mud and water. But they are kept outside so that's to be expected.the byway is right next to cabin and cars speed doing 55 + kinda scary if you have dogs but after awhile you get used to it. And inside you can't here it at all. Loved it would recommend

Cozy Cabin
This little cabin was perfect for our family get away. Has all the amenities too. Sits right on the river but does not have great water access. Plenty of access nearby to park a car and then float down though! We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice views, but not as serene as we hoped
Close to the road, not so serene afterall. Semis accelerating one direction and engine breaking the other, so a bit noisy at times. Couldn't find a pet cemetery nearby. Kayaks weren't covered and were nasty inside. Probably for the best... the path to the creek wasn't very safe. There was a clawfoot tub outside with nastiness too. The outside shower has a bit of water rot . I think it would hold me... I'm no fatty, but I wasn't going to risk it. Lots of spider webs. Kind of comes with a territory being where it's located. Jokes on you I like spiders I think I lived a previous life as a fantastic pig and had a spider as a friend. It wouldn't hurt to knock some of them down or at least clean out the outdoor lamp... That poor spider must have been trapped for a long time. Now for the inside. I will say they did a good job of keeping it clean. It looks nice and they provided a nice personal touch by leaving a treat for our dog. I liked the toilet... It's a massive throne. It made me massive BMs look like wee baby BMs comin' out me belly. The well water doesn't taste bad or smell of sulfur, which is a plus. It does come out cloudy at first, buy settles clear. Showering with soap takes a while to rinse off. However, the only real drawback of the inside was the smoke detector, as it was so sensitive the steam from making scrambled eggs set it off. So, I I'm glad they ensured there was plenty of propane for the grill, as I cooked a lot outside.

Our sincere apologies you did not care for the serenity the cabin does provide. Many of the reviews mention the cabin is fairly close to the main road, we do not advertise it as being isolated. The outdoor shower would hold you, although it is rustic. We hope to rebuild it in the near future, but it is sturdy and adds character as it is the original outdoor shower. We do spray for spiders, however, as you mentioned, the webs do gather quickly. The feeling of soap not rinsing off in the shower easily is because we have a water softener, that is what soft water feels like if you are not accustomed to it. Unfortunately, smoke detectors are sensitive especially in a small area, you could have removed the battery during your stay. Again, sorry your stay wasn't all you anticipated.

Not what we expected
This place is on very busy road with semi trucks flying buy at 65 miles per hour all day and night. Extremely loud. Also the only way to get to the river us down a very steep wobbly pile of broken concrete. The photos are deciving and they seem to be from about 10 years ago. We didn't even stay for the whole trip. Left after the first night.

We are very sorry to hear your stay was not as you expected. Our intention is not to deceive anyone, many of the reviews comment that the property is on a busy road but most say it does not intrude. Depending on your physical ability, it could be challenging to "walk" into the river, most people fish from shore. Depending on weather issues, typically the river is not for swimming. Our photos are exactly as the property is, except for updating the sofas in the living room and the outdoor furniture. We were not aware you left prior to your check out date, it is always helpful for us to know that, maybe we could have made your stay more comfortable in some way. Our sincere apologies, Al & Sue

Great location, great cabin
Had a great time staying at this cabin. The cabin was great for our family of four and a dog. We enjoyed the spacious yard and access to amenities such as the kayaks and hot tub. We went fishing every day and had great success with smallmouth bass up and down the river with the kayaks, and bottom fishing from the property shores.

Apple valley getaway
The weather was terrible but nothing to do with our stay. I wasn't a fan of how close to a main road it was only because it was difficult to pull in and out of the driveway. Alot of outdoor space and inside was nice and clean. Plenty of space and everything we needed was there. It was a nice short getaway despite the rainy weather.

Perfect Riverfront Oasis
This property was absolutely perfect for our weekend relaxation trip! The gated deck was perfect for keeping the pups close since it is close to the road. But overall, this place had everything from the fire pit and hot tub to the fully stocked kitchen and outdoor shower. We loved every part of it including the calm music upon arrival with complimentary wine and bread as well as precut firewood (for a small fee). Thank you so much for providing such a great home to share with others!

Graduation Trip
We were visiting the area for our grandson's graduation from MVNU in Mt. Vernon. Our daughter and son-in-law stayed with us at the cabin. We were very comfortable at the cabin. The beds were comfortable which is unusual in a rental. There was plenty of paper goods for our week long stay. An added bonus to the cabin was a washer and dryer with laundry detergent supplied. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck with the fire pit and hot tub. The view from the deck of the green lawn and river was very relaxing. We were able to have a small gathering to celebrate the graduation. The young people had a wonderful time playing games in the yard and using the hot tub. Thank you Al and Sue for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cabin.

Peaceful country Setting
My husband said when we got to Owl Creek Cabin that I nailed this one! It was easy to find, very inviting with deck, lawn, outdoor furniture and swing by the river and birds singing. When we entered it was all updated, new kitchen updates, living room with comfy sofa and love seat, bathroom updates very modern and bedrooms were very nice, one opening on the back side of the deck. There were windows in every room that made it very bright and welcoming with easy to use blinds to close at night if you chose. All in all it was so comforting and relaxing for both of us. Was very pleased with the cleanliness of the cabin; there were a lot of hidden gems within this pace & really loved the binder of recommendations for things to do, etc. My dog really enjoyed the creek and spacious yard, and my friend and I loved this location. Even though it was directly off of the highway, it was so peaceful. The Highway did not affect the quietness. Would definitely stay here again!

This is a great property that is perfect for a getaway with another couple. It was very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. The hot tub was well maintained and the scenery is very nice. We had a great time wine tasting in Nashville and visiting downtown Mount Vernon.

Nice for a quick getaway
The property was very clean and accommodating. We had everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoy the mild Jan day we experienced. We enjoyed a hike on the Honey Run Waterfall trail. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit! Didn’t realize it was right next to a road but it didn’t stop us from having a good time. Thank you!

Awesome Cabin
Beautiful cabin for a beautiful visit. Everything needed is provided. The view with the creek is wonderful, hot-tub and fire-pit make for great cozy times. Will stay again.

Peaceful Beauty
Lovely cottage in a scenic setting! Clean, comfortable, roomy and well stocked with everything you might need. The deck is outstanding with a view of the river. Loved the hot tub and fire pit - both of which we used in spite of a rainy stay. Host left wine and pumpkin bread and a treat for our pup - very thoughtful!

Beautiful country vacation spot
We enjoyed the beautiful view from the back deck , the walk to the little river int he back yard. Loved setting in the swing and listening to the sounds of nature . The hot tub and Amish porch furniture on the deck was amazing . We enjoyed grilling Steak on the grill . It is very secluded as well.
