"I was not sure what to expect in hotel room in a small town like Houston, but was very pleasantly surprised. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Check in/out was very easy. I would recommend. "

"Comfortable bed. Staff extremely friendly. Soft pillows. Refreshed bathroom with rainhead shower and wand. One hand towel had small brown spot. Room service food good but cool. "
"The room was very clean and comfortable. We had a slight issue with the bathroom, but it was attended to rught away. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. "
"I chose this hotel over a cheaper option because of the advertised amenities, river view, and noon checkout—but overall, it felt overpriced for the experience.
I prepaid for breakfast through Expedia but was double charged, and the “complimentary” breakfast offered to make up for issues ended up being confusing and incomplete. The TV in my room didn’t work initially, the hot tub wasn’t hot, and we had to replace our key cards multiple times.
The biggest frustration was the checkout time. It was advertised as noon, but I had to debate this with staff. I was also given a card offering accommodations, yet when I asked for a slightly later checkout and a ride to the train station, I had to go back to my room to prove it. Seems like this was the managers instruction, since the lobby attendant kept going to the back room to talk to them. Never did the manager ever come out and speak to me directly though.
As someone in hospitality, I stayed patient and respectful, but it felt like I had to advocate for basic services throughout my stay. Overall, not worth the price.
I will say one staff member who helped fix the TV and initially offered accommodations was great. Also all the front desk staff were very kind and communicative about the systems they were using being new. "
"We stayed in a newly remodeled room...
very firm new couch couch, turned into a pull out couch for sleeping arrangements , and that was decently comfortable for our two kids.
there was not a dim enough light for a night light , so I kept the microwave open all night.
and there were only three pillows for the king bed...but we were too tired and distracted to go ask for more bedding, so I guess it was fine.
the blanket that was our extra bedding was very stiff and uncomfortable..
but everything else was nice.
and the staff who allowed an early check-in were very nice. Cleaning staff were very nice.
The breakfast was ample ... made my day.
I don't think it helps to have real dishes and silverware for breakfast but some people might like that, more than paper plates.
The pool is underwhelming -- you access by walking into the Breezeway that is the main entrance.
so you're basically walking towards the outside to get to the pool, opening the automatic door to the cold wind while you're in a swimsuit.
Walkable to downtown scene, thats the main thing."
Comfort & Elegance in a Historic La Crosse, Wisconsin Mansion
10/10 Excellent
"Lots of space yet very cozy for a friends weekend! The location was perfect, a close walking distance to downtown. We forgot a few items, including some treasures jewelry and the property was quick to respond and return our items to us. Every room having its own bathroom was a plus, and everything was clean! The only thing missing were a few handy extra items in the kitchen; dish towels, dish rags, foil/plastic wrap. We had a wonderful stay! "
