The best time to visit Hospet, and by extension the nearby Hampi ruins, is during the cooler, drier months from October to February.During this period, the weather is considerably more pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C. This makes exploring the extensive outdoor archaeological sites of Hampi much more comfortable. You'll find it easier to spend several hours walking around the Virupaksha Temple, the Vittala Temple with its iconic stone chariot, and the numerous other monuments without the intense heat and humidity of other seasons.Couples and solo travellers will particularly appreciate these months for leisurely exploration. The mild climate allows for comfortable bicycle rides through the ruins or relaxing boat trips on the Tungabhadra River, offering a more enjoyable and less strenuous experience. It's also a popular time for photography, as the clear skies and softer light enhance the beauty of the ancient structures.Conversely, avoiding the monsoon season (June to September) and the peak summer heat (March to May) is advisable.
