Lovely cottage, full of charm, great location and only a stone throw from the Main Street with an abundance of independent shops including a butchers and cute deli.
Communication from the host was good and check in was easy
Thank you for the milk and cake which was a lovely surprise.
Would not hesitate to book again.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage. There were 5 of us and it was a perfect size. Clean, cozy and comfortable and well equipped and everything we needed for a great weekend, even a cake when we arrived. The village is pretty and plenty of shops to browse.
Check in/check out was super easy. Would highly recommend.
Check in was
Stop , enjoy , rest and feel you have stepped back in time . The surrounding area , the ease of walking to the shops , the pub or a country stroll
Was fantastic
This is a perfect little characterful bolt hole for a break away from the hustle and bustle. Well equipped with everything you need for a short stay. We ate out, but the kitchen was well equipped for those who want to make meals. The cottage has a lovely garden that gets sundhine for most of the day.Cute villiage on the doorstep with a few restaurant options, but plan ahead as not everything's open every day of the week.
The cottage is so charming and perfect for any length of stay. Absolutely spotless and well equipped. The garden is safe and secure, which gave us peace of mind whilst our dogs were out there. The local pubs, cricket field, high street are all lovely. We were fortunate to be around for the summer party at The Cricketers pub - such a great night! The Phoenix does an amazing Sunday roast. We would certainly stay again
Thoroughly enjoyed our 6-night stay. Cottage was modern yet charming, decorated very well throughout and with a well-equipped kitchen - the welcome carrot cake was a lovely touch! The main cottage was very warm and cosy to wake up to in the mornings, and the wood available for the sitting room burner at a reasonable charge was very much appreciated for those November evenings. The beautiful location and nearby high street was great for our needs (family of 3 adults) however, families with younger children might not consider the twin room suitable being separate from the main cottage.
A lovely cottage very well presented. Matthew was really helpful and we enjoyed sitting in the garden with a barbecue and glass of wine in the warm evening sunshine after a day at the races.
The low ceilings took a little getting used to but added to the quirkiness and atmosphere of the cottage.
The downstairs shower we shared was excellent with plenty of hot water for everyone. The dishwasher was a big plus. Space for hanging clothes would have been appreciated in the garden room which was a little compact for 2 adults.
A lovely week in Hartley Wintney
The cottage was spotless, characterful and sympathetically updated. The host was great at communicating and left some nice little touches. It had off road private parking (we managed to get 3 cars on!) The back garden was a delightful sun trap complete with a nice private patio and table and chairs. The website description and photos were accurate and this included regarding some of the low ceilings/doorways. The cottage was very convenient being near the village main street with the shops, restaurants(including some takeaways) and grocery store. Also pubs, we used The Cricketers which is off the main road and beside the Cricket Ground(obviously!!) There are some nice walks too. Overall we would highly recommend the cottage.
The cottage was perfect for our family. The place was clean and bright. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed: pots, pans, plenty of dishes and cutlery, serving bowls, coffee maker. There were lots of towels. There is a washing machine but note that there is no tumble dryer but a drying rack. The location was stunning, right by the duck pond and cricket pitch. We enjoyed strolling on the high street and walking on the local common. The gardens were well kept and the patio was sunny and bright. There was easy parking so we never had to worry about that. The local pub: The cricketers was great! Access was good for taking the train from Fleet into London several times. Location was also super for driving an hour or two to all kinds of special English locations that we visited on our trip: Stonehenge, Cotswolds, Windsor, Southampton, Bournemouth. The host was responsive and helpful. All in all,It was the perfect place for our family!
This cottage was the perfect cosy get away for our group. Very warm and comfortable with many helpful and thoughtful touches. Ideally located near walks, shops and pubs. Would highly recommended
Lovely little cottage. Everything we needed with some thoughtful and welcoming touches. Great location. Right off the high street by the first tee on the golf course. Well equipped and cosy.
Loved the property. Lots of little extras lije cake and a pint of milk for our arrival. Nice toiletries to use and information about therooerty and the village of Hartley Witney
The town of Hartley Whitney is charming! You are going to be just a very short walk away from the high street. Lots of lovely shops, a Tesco Express for groceries, a wonderful bakery, the Courtyard for a great place to eat, and a pub called the Cricketers. You're also a short walk from a little pond, complete with ducks and ducklings, a grove of very mature oak trees and a cricket green. We loved the location above all!
There is a patio in the back garden, right outside your kitchen area. Great spot to catch the afternoon sun and have4 a meal or a drink! You're across the street from a Golf and Country Club, so lots of greenery. TV and internet work well. The place has a homey feel to it with quirky architectural details. Overall a charming cottage.
I would say that the stairs going upstairs are a bit steep and can be tricky to maneuver, especially at night. Also, the ensuite has a ceiling beam in a most unfortunate spot. It's just a bit out from the loo. I had many bumps on my head during my stay. Very awkward! Just something to be aware of...
We rented from Matthew for three nights. One night just my husband and I and the next two nights with our two adult kids.
We traveled from the Cotswolds the first day and then after the kids were with us we drove to Stonehenge one day and attended the Highclere show the next day. We got lucky and got to tour the castle afterwards. My daughter and I are big fans of Downton Abbey so it was great to see it. Matthew was great on communication and easy to reach. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms had small soaps & shampoos for our use. Yes the wooden beams were low and mind your head was important but they were also beautiful! I thought the place was very comfortable. My two adult kids were able to have their own space and our only slight problem was that we couldn’t immediately find the password for the third bedroom router but we figured it out and Matthew responded to my message too.
He also brought us extra towels and a container of hand soap when I thought there wasn’t any in the master bath but it was already mounted on the wall and I just didn’t see it. He also left milk and carrot cake(delicious) and a package of tea when he dropped off the towels and accepted a piece of mail that wouldn’t come to my home in time.
He was really nice to rent from! We ate at the nearby pub I highly recommend this property and Matthew!
Lovely cottage, but be warned that the stairs are not the easiest to navigate, and the very low beam directly in front of the toilet in the ensuite makes it very difficult to use.
A well appointed cottage, with third bedroom in the garden so our sunny weather helped. Loved the wood burner for the colder evenings. Low doorways needed some adjusting to, especially for one 6’ 4” guest! Parking immediately outside door was very helpful as the road was often full being close to a golf course and main shops.
A wonderful property; very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Just a short stroll from the centre of Hartley Wintney, which is ideally located for touring places of interest in this part of Hampshire and beyond.
Lovely property, clean, well equipped and thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. In a very good location for the village. Off road parking and a very pleasant back garden. Comfortable beds and well equipped bathrooms. Would just like to have known key arrangements a little earlier.
Will certainly recommend
We had a lovely stay at this cottage, good facilities, the kitchen was well equipped, the fireplace was a nice treat, very cosy and welcome cake was a lovely touch! The location was perfect for us visiting family in local areas, the high street has a village feel and some nice places to eat locally. We will definitely come back again, thanks!
