Me, My boyfriend, and our dog absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful cabin. The location was so perfect and in a quiet neighborhood. We loved being so close to downtown! We will definitely be back!
Loved the house. It's an open and airy design, so with kids, it could get a bit noisy. Lovely property. Recommend using the fireplace. We bought a pallet of kiln dried Oak from the landscape company right down the road and burned the whole thing. Super nice.....
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was perfect for our family of four. We loved the location to downtown Highlands and the private lake access.
My husband, pup and I had a lovely stay! The cabin is cozy and has everything you need for a stay in the mountains. Location is ideal with town just a few minutes away and central jump off spot to get to many great hikes in the area. Would definitely stay again!
We enjoyed our visit to Highlands. The location was very convenient to downtown and hiking trails. The property was just as advertised and we loved sitting on the deck with a drink each evening.
Great house! This our second time booking this property.
Very easy. Owner is great to work with.

Exactly as advertised
Cabin was perfect for our needs and the owner was helpful and accommodating. Great location was close to town but not too close! Giant deck and boat dock were a great bonus.
My wife and I plus two small dogs just returned from a weeks stay at Mary Ann’s Highlands home. It was a great stay. We found the home to be very nice, a well stocked kitchen, comfy accommodations and cool mountain air. The location in Highlands provides for easy access to all the area has to offer. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high country getaway.
The deck over the lake was the highlight! What an amazing bonus. It was our first time to the Highlands. Our visit exceeded our expectations. When we first arrived the house it did have a bit of a “pet friendly” smell but it did not last. I wish the upstairs had more privacy and separation so the adults could stay up later in the living room but as it turned out with all the hiking and outdoor activities we did during the day, us parents were ready to go to our room when the kids were ready to go to sleep. I would absolutely stay here again! I highly recommend this home.
This house was amazing, a true hidden gem. Minutes away from both downtown and great hiking trails! The outside porch and dock are a great outdoor relaxing areas. The home had everything you need, very clean. We spent most of our time hiking, longest drive was about 30 minutes away. The owners were very responsive with all questions. If you pass up renting this house it will be a mistake.
The house is simple but still offers all you need. Pond behind is nice and is fun to fish. The road up and down the mountain into and out of Highlands can be unnerving. Especially when all the workers coming in or leaving Highlands.

Great Cabin
We enjoyed our stay in this cabin. It had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and even had paper towels. The family room was comfortable with a fireplace and t.v. Little things like a lighter and s'more sticks were easy to find. The open loft rooms worked out for us since since I had 4 kids with me. The lake was pretty and the kids loved using the boats and exploring around the lake. We would stay here again.
Place was just as seen in photos - peaceful retreat - backyard pond is wonderful!
Wonderful property on a little lake - we all loved the dock area and kayaks. Great trees for hanging a few Eno’s too! Kitchen well stocked for cooking in. House was clean and comfortable. Kids loved the loft area upstairs. Close to everything in the area. Had a little trouble with door, but owner was quick to respond and very helpful, even providing extra insight on things to do in area. Highly recommend - we would book again!
We had an incredible month at this great lake cabin in Highlands. The house was incredibly clean, especially for being a cabin in a wooded area. It had literally everything you need for an awesome getaway — fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, plenty of room to stretch out, kayaks, life jackets, books, movies and games galore. The location is very close Main Street, Cashiers and everything Highlands has to offer. Mary was a great hostess and responded incredibly quickly when we had a question. As some had mentioned, the driveway was a little hard to navigate the first time you pull in, but you just back in and then it’s a cinch. We had such a great time and did not want to leave.

Lovely visit to a open, clean, well stocked home!
We stayed during the Thanksgiving 2016 holiday. I packed most of my cooking needs, but inevitably forget a few (rolling pin, glass baking dish, etc..) and was pleasantly surprised to all my forgotten items in the kitchen! The house was open, clean and very spacious! The lake was low due to the drought, but it didn't keep my 18 year old from getting out on the water in one of the owner's supplied boats. All the owner's suggestions on hikes and restaurants were spot on! Particularly loved Wild Thyme! Wonderful stay for making treasured family memories.

Wedding travel
My one big complaint was the two upstairs bedrooms offered no privacy. The upstairs is a loft with an enclosed bathroom. There are no walls around the "bedrooms" This was an issue for us and I would not have chosen if I knew. If privacy is not a concern, I recommend this house.

Great for large family, bathroom issues for 2 couples
Pros: Wonderful location, quiet, spotlessly clean, comfortable and incredibly well equipped.
Cons: one bathroom downstairs, off master bedroom, no shower, just jacuzzi. One bathroom upstairs by loft "bedrooms" had the only shower and its only ventilation was windows.
The downstairs beds were firm and comfortable and upstairs were soft and not so comfortable. We loved everything about this place except the location of bathrooms, which essentially precluded both couples using the downstairs bedrooms.
We were in Highlands for the Summer Chamber Music Festival, which was fabulous.
This property can’t be beat. Fantastic host, wonderful house, and peaceful location on a private lake. We are repeat guests and the house is well-maintained. It was cold while we were there and it was so nice to use the fireplace. This is our favorite place in Highlands.
If you are looking for a cabin in the North Carolina mountains, this is your place. It’s close to the downtown area and on a private lake. It has everything you need for a relaxing retreat. We arrived at peak leaf changing season and checked in with no problems. A special treat was the twinkle lights around the porch.
Poo poori was a nice touch in the bathrooms; fireplace was awesome for us Floridians. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and even spices. It has a very nice walkway down to the dock of the lake. My husband counted 50 steps. The beds were comfortable and one bathroom had a jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch overlooking the lake. The location was awesome.
