  • This giant 13th-century sandstone abbey stands along the picturesque River Wye. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536 the lead roof was sold off and the Abbey lay neglected for 200 years. The Abbey was "rediscovered" in the 18th century and became a haven for artists and poets.

A very comfortable cottage

A cosy base for visiting family. All the amenities needed in a cottage were available and there was a good secure garden for the dog.

Our review is based on us already knowing the area well, we’re visiting friends and family.

Our review is based on us already knowing the area well, we’re visiting friends and family. Ideal location for us, clean very comfortable, nice and roomy, shame we couldn’t use the garden, weather was poor. In a very pretty location. We would recommend it and will hopefully ask to stay there again on our next trip back to the U.K. we live in France, Brexit willing. All in all for us a very good experience.

This is our second visit to thalassa. Love it there. Easy access to Malverns for walking, very comfortable accommodation. Felt very safe on our first visit away since Covid. Food delivery to the door by Tesco. Already booked for next year. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A very comfortable bungalow with a good sized garden.

A very comfortable bungalow with a good sized garden. Very helpful owners. There are no facilities in the village itself but it is not far to Hereford and Ledbury. It might be useful to provide some information leaflets about local attractions, walks, restaurants etc in the information pack. The garden is lovely but there is a deep step down to the sloped lawn which may be tricky for people with mobility issues - it might be useful to put this in the information about the cottage and to look at possibly putting in a step from the patio to the lawn to make it easier to get on and off the lawn. Overall, a very relaxing and peaceful few days away. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

This is a lovely tiny cottage tucked away behind a Victorian house.

This is a lovely tiny cottage tucked away behind a Victorian house. Access is easy as it is just off the main road. The cottage was very clean and I would rate cleanliness very highly! Everything was there that we needed to make our stay comfortable....washing machine, dishwasher (with a tablet) and cafetière. The garden was safe and secure and well tended and we enjoyed seeing the last rays of evening sun from the patio. The one downside is that the WIFI was very poor and whilst ok for emails, we were not able to stream or watch movies or Netflix in the evenings which was a shame. Our dog was safe and happy staying with us and we found a nice walk in the village to do morning and night. For the rest of the time we were off exploring the area and the dog came with us. We found amazing walks in the Malverns and local castles to visit. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

I have marked down location due to the busy road that the owners house is on .

I have marked down location due to the busy road that the owners house is on . Thalassa is in their back garden and as regards road noise it didn't bother us but walking the dog on an evening with no street lights and only a 3 foot wide footpath was very dangerous -not that is any fault of the owners but is a consideration for the future. Another thing the owners can't do anything about (so therefore no fault of theirs or the property) was the local amenities -basically there weren't any. No village shop and the only pub didn't do meals. So as a suggestion to future guest, lovely place, lovely safe garden for the dog but take provisions for your first night at least as there is nowhere to buy anything on your arrival. One recommendation would be that the owners have a welcome pack for guests. But other than stated it was a lovely place only spoilt by the weather.
