"It was almost overwhelming to arrive at this beautiful, isolated setting. The garden and the home are both meticulously arranged and maintained. The separate cottage with its second bedroom has the porch overlooking the river that is the main picture for the listing. It is down a short walk from the main house.We loved sitting outside on the deck or on the porch to have a meal or to just listen to the birds and look at the flowers. I took every opportunity I could to step outside and enjoy.The walk to the river is steep and difficult as described in the listing. During our stay, it had been raining making it slippery and nearly impossible in sections.I did go all the way to the river. My wife only made it halfway. We are both in our 70s. The walk to the river was worth it. If the weather had been warmer, I definitely would have gone swimming.The kitchen was well furnished. We cooked a meal with no problem, using the supplies on hand. The dishwasher is small but high-quality. It was just right for this situation.The queen size bed was comfortable. We both slept well. There was no noise or street lighting to interfere. There are security lights available on the outside if desired.Overall, I can’t praise this beautiful setting enough. We experienced rain almost every day. Rather than spoil our experience, we are motivated to book the same house again next year at a time when the weather will be more favorable."
