This was our favorite hotel we stayed at in the Netherlands. Staff is super friendly & helpful. Room is spacious & stocked. Close to train station. You can walk everywhere. The town/city is lovely. Lots of restaurants & cafes within walking.

A pleasant stay in Hengelo.
Arriving at the hotel in Hengelo was a pleasant surprise. It was only a short walk away from the railway station. The room we had was of a very high standard, in terms of its cleanliness, facilities and comfort. The hotel was quiet and offered an excellent buuffet style breakfast. It was a pity an evening meal wasn't available. Apart from the lack of the latter, I can't fault this hotel.

Comfortable stay
Hotel location is very convenient. Only two minutes walk from the Hengelo Central Station. Staff is very cooperative and kind. Rooms are quite spacious and comfortable. Wifi signals in the room are a little weak but still works.

Although the hotel is good, comfortable,friendly & handy for the town, it was let down by the fact that the restaurant is not open on Thursday,Friday or Saturday evening!!!

Happy business stay
Stayed two nights on business trip along with two colleagues. Delightfully convenient to Railway Station , shops, Wednesday market and business partner’s offices. Staff helpful courteous and breakfast offers good choices. This was my fourth stay in two years. Wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. Plan to be back in October

Close to the train station and town center. Hotel clean and staff were helpful. Breakfast was good. There are a great selection of restaurants near by. Would stay there again.

Parking sucks no place to unload luggage must park in city garage witch cost 9 euro a day not disclosed also when you have to park in garage you must take your luggage from garage to hotel because there's no place to park your car out front breakfast is way to expensive 16 euro for a typical German breakfast witch is usually included in your stay NOT THERE

Unfortunately we do not have our own parking space, but our guests can always unload and load their luggage in front of the hotel. That is never a problem. I'm sorry you experienced otherwise. Regarding breakfast we allways offer rates including and excluding breakfast. We prefer to give our guest a choice, because not everyone takes breakfast. I'm sorry this was not clear to you. Good but do NOT buy breakfast: no staff members check room numbers or any other form of verification to see who has bought breakfast and who hasn't, meaning anyone can walk in regardless of whether or not they paid. They then refused to give me a refund. This is, effectively, stealing money.

I'm sorry you have the feeling we do not do our job with the right intentions, because we do not ask for a room number when guests arrive at the restaurant for breakfast. We work with a small team and our receptionists work closely with the restaurant staff, so we see the guests who have breakfast. We just work in a different way then most of the hotels and more important on a base of trust. If a guest books a rate excluding breakfast and he or she did not have breakfast we of course do not charge breakfast. We picked this location based upon its proximity to our family in NL. We didn't really understand how close it was to the Hengelo city and streets which turned out to be an awesome blessing. We were able to walk to all kinds of locations for food and coffee. If Hengelo is a destination, this is a nice place to anchor from. When we decided to take the train to Amsterdam for the day, the walk to Hengelo Centraal was surprising short.

For a Great Home Away From Home Experience!
I stayed at City Hotel twice and had an excellent stay! Staff was warm, receptive and very helpful! The room was very nice and had a large bathroom (a plus for me)! It was so nice that I have designated this my hotel when I'm staying in the area!

Excellent Central Location
3 minutes walk from Railway and 6 minutes walk to business location was perfect. Proximity to super restaurants is great.
