With the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak, travelling now comes with a few additional challenges. Have a read over these handy tips before jumping on your plane to Heimaey:

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking your flight. Also check if there are any conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as taking a COVID-19 test.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it to verify your identity. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it directly on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Empty your personal items from your pocket, such as your phone, keys and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
