Oceanfront Cottage on a Quiet Cove Just Outside Lunenburg

Welcome to The Cottage on the Cove. This charming cottage has been completely renovated top to bottom in 2021. It is located right on the water on an in-shore inlet of the Atlantic ocean about 10 minutes from the town centre of Lunenburg. It has gorgeous water views from all of the main living areas. A new heat pump allows climate control (heat and air conditioning) for all weather conditions and guest preferences. The cottage can sleep six comfortably with two bedrooms (one queen, one double) and a queen-sized sofa bed in the living room. Linens are provided for all seasons and sleeping preferences (sheets, blankets, quilts & duvets). A full bath includes toilet, sink with vanity and tub/shower combo. Hair dryer & towels for the bath as well as beach towels for the shore are provided. The living room has ample seating with two sofas and two club chairs. An electric fireplace provides a nice ambiance for the occasional rainy evening. The entertainment system permits watching of DVDs (200+ provided for use) and listening to music. Bell FibreOp high-speed internet service including wifi is now available at the cottage for guest use. The indoor dining table (seats six) overlooks the water. The chef’s kitchen is well equipped for cooking and baking to your heart’s content. Full size refrigerator, electric range, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, flatware, glassware, wine glasses, baking pans and even a large lobster/mussel/clam pot are all provided. A full-size washer & dryer are also located in the kitchen. A clothes drying rack for outdoor use (for bathing suits and beach towels) has been installed near the cottage entrance. An expansive deck over-looking the cove includes areas for cocktails/lounging (with sofa, club chairs, lounge chairs and a coffee table), grilling on the brand new Napoleon BBQ, al fresco dining and star gazing. Two patio umbrellas (with stands) are provided to permit shade in the heat of the day. A stone pathway links the deck to a firepit patio with six colourful Adirondack chairs where you can lounge waterside in the daytime or have a campfire in the evening. Firewood and kindling are supplied. A stone pathway also connects the designated parking area to the cottage for easy transport of luggage. Four kayaks, four paddles and four lifejackets are provided for guest use. The waterways surrounding the peninsula on which the cottage is located are calm and perfect for paddling. When the tide is right, swimming/floating in the cove is a pleasant respite. The Cottage on the Cove is the perfect tranquil escape from the business of everyday life. Our guests tell us they are sad to leave on check-out day but that they will be back to see us again.

Heckman’s Island Cottage

We had a very comfortable stay at this well equipped cottage, on an inlet cove near Lunenburg. It was very quiet which was to our liking and I enjoyed photographing the many water birds around the cove.

Lovely Spot

This is such a lovely place to stay! The location is beautiful and quiet, with plenty of outdoor and indoor space. Everything was well cared for and had everything we needed. It was very convenient to Lunenburg (less than 15 minutes to downtown). We would certainly stay again.

Had an awesome time at cottage on the cove. Loved kayaking on the inlet. The view was beautiful, the cottage was well stocked and we appreciated the unscented products. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful and Relaxing

We had a fantastic stay at Frank & Val's place on Heckman's Island. The river is so peaceful to wake up to at sunrise with the sound of loons, and we were also greeted each dawn by deer quietly roaming around the cottages. There were lots of great movies for the kids to enjoy, and we really appreciated all of the complimentary, organic & unscented amenities provided in the kitchen, laundry and bathroom. Highly recommend this location for your stay in the Lunenburg area!

Awesome cottage

We appreciated the calm of the environment and the easy access to the water and the kayaks. The cottage is really clean. The arrival was easy and the instructions were clear. The only negative points were the beds, as the matresses were old and less comfortable. We deffinitly recommend!!

Amazing property

Great weekend with friends. Frank & Val pull out all the stops for their guests. This is by far the best place for anyone with allergies to scented products. The cottage is supplied with everything you need and all scent free. The kitchen is a dream, well-stocked and spacious. The deck and fire pit area were an added bonus. We loved our stay and will visit again.

Nice area, lovely spot on the water

We enjoyed our stay here. The owners have done a great job of making the space nice....great deck to relax on and kayaks to take out. House is quite small make the absolute most of their approximate 1000 sq. feet. We were comfy with four adults. Don't think it would be good for any more than that! Probably best for a small family. The town of Lunenburg is fantastic. Terrific place to explore. And great to come back to this cottage after a full day. (The local roads are really nice to stroll on as well.)

Overall, cottage is okay, Cons...grass being cut at 4:15pm right around the cottage, construction workers next door (should have been warned), microwave not user friendly and didn't appear to work properly anyway and have an issue in being asked to pop the laundry on just as we depart, given that we are already paying a cleaning fee.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at this beautiful cottage. It is beautifully decorated, and very clean. I loved sitting and watching the water and the birds in the morning. It was very relaxing! If we were staying more than a few nights, it would be nice to have a place to hang some clothes, and it would have been nice to have even a few basic tv channels. I'd love to come back in the summer so we could fully enjoy the beautiful property.

Beautiful cottage on the water!

Great property! Well organized and equipped with everything you need (aside from a dishwasher). Just a short drive to Lunenburg. We loved kayaking right from the dock. The inlet is very calm and the kids loved exploring the islands and waterways.

Lovely

We would have preferred to be closer to town but the drive wasn't too far. Place was spotless, kitchen well equipped. Setting very pretty on the water but our weather did not allow us to enjoy it fully. Lots of birds to watch, deer, even a fox walked by.

Stunning waterfront cottage

The cottage is just perfect for a quiet relaxing vacation! It was extremely clean and it had all the provisions you’d have in your own home. You can tell the owners take great pride in this cottage, they are also extremely responsive. We rented in April so they came out a couple hours in advance to turn the heat on for us which was above & beyond! We loved the wildlife, we saw so many deer! They have a guest book, so we enjoyed reading the comments from previous guests. One couple had their honeymoon there, another got engaged, a lot of families, and even friends weekends. They have created this little retreat for us to all enjoy. We chose this location because we wanted to explore a different area of the province (we are from Ontario). Lunenburg is quaint and so pretty. We walked into a coffee shop and they had locals playing music such a great East Coast thing! The local pub was fun! The water front is stunning. We were off season so didn’t get to do more than simple walks in Lunenburg itself but there are also a ton of great trails for hiking so that was great! Blue Rocks is a pretty drive. The fresh fish market is where we bought all our fish, we cooked up lobster, scallops, halibut etc. Thank you so much to the hosts Frank & Val!

Wonderful cottage and location

We had a great time at the cottage. Our 2 year old grand daughter loved the s'mores by the fire. We brought along all we needed for Thanksgiving Dinner and the kitchen was so well equipped that we actually could have roasted our turkey there but we had that done at home. Frank and Val have thought of everything you might need for a great stay! Frank was very quick to respond to any requests we had and the instructions for use of the cottage were very clear. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend for a family get away.
