The beautiful grounds are an oasis and a wonderful retreat after a day at the beach.
Donna and Kevin are wonderful hosts and a wealth of knowledge for activities in the area.
We had an amazing time at this perfect retreat in paradise where we could truly unwind. The grounds are beautiful and full of local fruit. On a clear day you can see Maui from the backyard! The host/house sitter were terrific, very responsive and kind. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of site seeing or scuba diving. We will be back for sure!
This part of the Big Island turned out to be my favorite. It's uncrowded, laid back, cooler than the rest of the island, and oh so beautiful. The hosts were warm and friendlly and gave me amazing advice on what to do. The rooms were filled with Donna's gorgeous photography. This was a special and unforgettable stay.
This is an amazingly beautiful place. You can see the ocean from the bedroom, and when the weather is clear Maui too. There are so many stars on clear nights, and we saw several rainbows. The whole property is basically a tropical garden, with little paths through the woods and citrus and avocado trees, which guests are welcome to enjoy as much as they want. Words and photos can't describe how beautiful and replenishing this location is.The hosts are lovely and welcoming - truly good people. We had several challenges not related to the accommodations while we were there, and they were interested and kind and helpful. The bed is very comfortable. Needing to step outside, onto a covered lanai, for three seconds to get from one room to another is no problem at all. The bedroom is very quiet. The kitchen/living area is more open to the world when the converted garage door is open -- it's basically a massive lanai that can be closed when wanted. One thing to know: stay here only if you like living beings of many species. There are lots of birds, and lots of birdsong. Butterflies and other insects of various kinds. A few geckos. You'll want to protect your food against mice. There are three mellow dogs. Horses and sheep and goats on neighboring properties. And so many plants. Also, there is no microwave, but there are many other ways to cook and heat food, so we found that fine.If you enjoy abundant nature, you will love this place.

We stayed with Donna and her husband and the property is beautiful. They were very welcoming and helpful. We weren’t around much because we were driving around the island, but they have been there for years and they know a bunch of cool spots to go to. Work 10/10 recommend and will be back in the future!
We had a marvelous time; Donna and Kevin are the consummate hosts. The location is picture-perfect. Even with the accurate description, our stay exceeded our expectations! We will return to this slice of heaven!
The property offers expansive and gorgeous views while relaxing in unique and thoughtfully creative spaces. We enjoyed the large rooms and wonderful artwork. Our hosts greeted us with a warmth and inclusiveness that was unexpected and lovely, providing insights into the area that were so interesting - we are very glad we found "Always in Season" and would love to stay again.
Wonderful property and the wind was somewhat relentless.

Living indoors or outdoors in paradise
What a beautiful tranquil getaway with privacy and the feeling of living outdoors. We loved our visits with Kevin and Donna, people who are long-time residents of Hawaii and know all the great places to go. We definitely want to come back!
Our new little slice of heaven on the North end of the Big Island! Kevin and Donna are gracious hosts, knowledgable of all things local and pleasant to be around. The grounds are an extra bonus for us as we appreciate the fauna, landscape and new birds to identify! The orange blossom fragrance on the property was epic and surreal. We will be back again and again.

Great Pick! Relaxing, beautiful, welcoming!
We had a great time staying at this property. We live on Island and like to get out once in a while to experience different areas. This property was so very nice - clean, well appointed, beautiful grounds, and very relaxing! Donna is awesome and very knowledgeable. She's so fun to talk to and happy to share tips about great places to hike to, things to do, places to eat, etc. The property itself is really amazing and would be especially interesting to anyone interested in farming, gardening, landscape, sustainability, etc. We are looking forward to staying there again in the future!
We truly enjoyed our stay here. The grounds are beautiful, and we loved walking around them. The entry says it all as you drive in through a lush forest. We felt at-home, and our hosts were very personable, and made us feel so welcome, along with their sweet dogs and cat! Be aware that that the kitchen and laundry room are in the garage with a working garage door. Fairly well stocked, but not for cooking on a true stove/oven. But that's fine as long as you don't need them, and you can use the grill, though we preferred eating out in the two nearby towns for lunch or dinner. Such a sweet place to call home in between snorkeling, hiking, and exploring this beautiful area.

PEACEFUL & PERFECT
Our stay with Donna was wonderful. She is a terrific hostess, sorry Kevin was away during our stay, hopefully we will meet him next time(yes we will definitely return). Our accommodations were very roomy, comfy & CLEAN! They certainly have an awesome slice of paradise and we are very lucky that they choose to share it!!! We really enjoyed having breakfast (usually fresh fruit) outside every morning, their property is lush and beautiful. Donna gave us lots of useful info about dining, hiking, sightseeing, farmers markets etc. Having Chester(her dog) around was great for 2 dog lovers like us; he was very well behaved and honestly we wish he would have spent more time with us:) This was one of the best VRBO's we've stayed at. Highly recommend Always In Season Retreat!

Wonderful hosts in a unique setting
We have been coming to the Big Island at least twice a year for the last ten years. After two years of staying in luxury hotels and bed and breakfasts in the Kona area, we finally "discovered" Hawi and the North Kohala coast and began renting a house for our visits over the last eight years. Looking for a stronger connection to the people and community life of Hawi we decided to try staying at Donna and Kevin's house. Although not as private (or expensive) as the house we had been renting) we immediately fell in love with this beautiful microfarm overlooking the coast and Maui. Donna and Kevin were perfect hosts, helpful and friendly but also giving us complete privacy. The sitting room adjacent to our suite has a beautiful ocean and garden view and was the perfect place to read a book, write or work on your computer if the need arises. Donna and Kevin have created a wonderful oasis for visitors looking to experience the beauty and spiritual richness of Big Island life.

If the weather isn't ideal, not a great base
When planning our stay, I didn't realize the main living area is a converted garage with the sleeping and bathroom areas separate (you need to go outside to go between). The kitchen has a full fridge and a good number of appliances but is just a single counter without a stove in a relatively dark room. To get good light you need the garage door open which isn't particularly feasible when it's stormy and is far from private as it's opens onto the main driveway.
The weather was very stormy while we were there so we spent each day driving to other parts of the island and only returning at night as there wasn't a nice place to relax if you couldn't relax outdoors.
The farm property is lovely with nice views and lots of fresh fruit. The owners are friendly and will stop by each day to check on you and recommend activities.

Very Quiet, Secluded, Peaceful
We stayed at this property for 2 nights in mid-July. Very quiet, peaceful, off the beaten-path, yet not that far to Hawi town. Nice sized room, bed was very comfortable. Kitchen/living room area is actually a converted garage, but it is a nice place to hang out and cook. Kitchen is not connnected to bedroom--you have to walk outside and go next door to the kitchen. Unfortunately it was very hot when we were there (the first of the 2015 hurricanes had messed with the usual trade winds) and there is no AC--which you don't usually need, but there was an overhead fan and a plug in fan in the closet which helped. Lots of dishes, guidebooks, water toys to use. I would recommend a few more cooking utensils such as spatulas and wooden spoons, but we made do. All in all, a very nice place to stay when you are in this part of the Big Island. There are apparently new caretakers but they were very nice and friendly. And we loved Chester the dog and Buddha (?) the cat!
I'm not overstating that Donna and Kevin's home is idyllic. Peaceful with lush landscaping and beautiful views. Donna was very kind and extremely helpful.
5-stars, can't wait to come back, we didn't want to leave. Kevin and Donna are gracious hosts with an abundance of aloha. The space is exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed with every small touch and detail considered to provide top notch hospitality. Beautiful views of the ocean and Maui, close to charming Hawi town, situated on the enchanting Kohala coast, fruit trees and birdsong.... The property is a slice of heaven in a magical part of the big island, this wonderful gem simply can't be captured in words or pictures.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous location in Havi. If you like plants the grounds are quite lush with beautiful plantings. It was quite and private and the hosts were very friendly and helpful offering to mail some of the clothes we accidentally left in the dryer. We definitely would stay here again.
