An incredible house to stay. Near everything!! Quiet, relaxing, close to the lake and river, casino and restaurants. Dog friendly as well. One floor house so no stairs.
The house was great, just as advertised. The yard was perfect for lawn games and hanging by the firepit. We didn’t spend anytime exploring the surrounding area, but I wish we had, the wineries and downtown 10 minutes away looked gorgeous
We had a lovely, relaxing stay! Our dog loved the yard and the woods. The fire pit and s’mores were great. We hiked around Harper’s Ferry and just relaxed at the house.
Very nice property and I wish the weather had been better so I could enjoy the outside as much as the inside. The home had all the necessities and was in great shape. Loved the artistic touches (wall photos, stove covers, dish patterns). Lots of wildlife stopped by -deer, woodpecker, birds! Would definately stay again!
This property was very nice for a stay in the hills. We were near a lake for swimming which was nice. There is a nice sized yard for outdoor games, a fire pit with plenty of seating, and outdoor lighting for night activities. This property was very clean, had plenty of amenities, and is just a nice get away.
Thank you so much for renting your beautiful home to us. We drove from Pennsylvania to attend a Harry Potter event at Morven Park, and your home provided the perfect retreat. The surroundings were amazing, and the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.We truly appreciated the quick resolution of the heating issue and were especially grateful when Wendy extended our checkout time after the snowfall, allowing us to relax and not rush. Steve’s call to ensure the driveway was cleared was another thoughtful touch. We had a fantastic time as a family, especially watching all the Harry Potter movies together. Our stay was unforgettable, and we hope to return in the future!
Cute property with a great location by a small lake and short drive to Harper's Ferry. Home is very clean, well-maintained, and perfect for a weekend getaway from DC.
Appreciated the fact they were willing to not only accommodate my dogs but also my son and his girlfriends dogs so we could have a family holiday together
Very cute place! Very well appointed with coffee supplies! Loved the roosters in the morning, in particular. Comfy furniture, very clean. Close to AT access points. Pretty quiet neighborhood and close to all sorts of things. Great value.

Perfect WV stay
This house had everything for a great summer stay by the Shannondale lake. We enjoyed making smores after using the well appointed charcoal grill outside. Inside the house, everything was very clean and well organized that 4 adults and 3 kids had a great time throughout our stay. Swimming in a well maintained and clean lake was definitely a highlight for us. The only thing to be mindful is that there are lots of chickens from neighborhood (none on this property) so if you are a light sleeper, you should bring ear plugs or a white noise machine.
This property is clean and in a good location. Unfortunately, it is not really designed for more than two adults. The adults who slept in the bunk beds were not comfortable, and the metal bunk bed screeched every time you moved. In addition, there are only three places to sit and enjoy time watching TV. Be aware that they do use a glade plug in, in the house. My friend got a severe migrane from the smell and had to leave the first night from getting sick.
This is a great house. The owner was very nice. You can tell he recently upgraded a lot in the house. The lake and beach are really nice. We also enjoyed how close the river was.
We had a good time at the place. The big kitchen table is perfect for gathering when the weather keeps you from the fabulous fire pit. We would go back if we had an occasion to.
The hosts received a notice that we had lost heat at the house. We actually did not, but they were out the next morning to check the furnace and brought two space heaters we did not have to use. Really enjoyed our stay.
Overall, the house was beautiful and spotless. The biggest issue would be the water. It is very high in iron and had an awful sulfur smell. I feel like that should be disclosed up front. Normally, we can get over that and realize that we are in a mountain community, so not a big deal. However, my upungest is autistic and has major sensory issues, especially smell. When anyone took a shower or flushed the toilet, the sulfur smell filled the entire house. I know some of that is out of your control, but there are hugher grade filtration systems that can help. When renting your home out, you might want to invest in a higher grade filtration system and let people know ahead of time. There was no bottled water and the water was not drinkable. While it may have been safe, it was not palatable. And after being out all day, coming back to go to bed and not having water to drink was not fun. We could have gotten water while we were already out had we known ahead of time.
Had it not been for the water, we absolutely would stay here again. The house itself was great. Extremely clean and comfortable.
