The Halliburton
3.5 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (1002)
"The Halliburton is charming, cozy, quiet, and aesthetically pleasing in a period style. Its staff members are warm, professional, and helpful. Its location is ideal for walking down to the Harbourfront or downtown. The outside patio at the back looked inviting. On the flip side, I missed the detail about no elevator and hadn't expected so many (nicely carpeted) stairs. There are a few at the front door, a few more up to the lobby, 14 or so to reach the next floor; then there's a short hall walk...

The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites
4.5 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (1009)
"Lovely place to stay. The renovated rooms are nicely updated. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Only two minor issues: 1) homeless in the neighbourhood can be intimidating as they will come up to the front (and inside) the hotel; 2) the restaurant could stay open for another hour for those who come in on a late flight or late event. Everything else was lovely"

Residence Inn by Marriott Halifax Downtown
3.0 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (903)
"Very nice hotel in the middle of downtown Halifax. Staff very friendly. Everything here was so clean. The room was extremely spacious (as Residence Inns are) and this one was cleaner than some that I have seen in other cities. Great breakfast was provided. The parking was gone by the time we arrived at 8:00 p.m., so we parked three blocks away in the public garage and it only cost $12. The exercise was good for us. By the way, there are big hills to climb if that is an issue. We had drinks...

Surfside Inn

"Typical family run inn with all the usual expectations, like very noisy A/C. Some run down items. Overall it was ok, it served the purpose. Not as clean as one hopes. Note that there is no breakfast (at least in September), but there is a coffee machine in the room and in the office. No cable TV."

The Westin Nova Scotian
4.0 star property
8.2 out of 10, Very good, (1007)
"Hotel was nice and clean and the location is great at the edges of downtown Halifax, a very short walk to the Pier and numerous great shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly (albeit sometimes slow at the front desk) and the room was very comfortable. However, the hotel does appear to be long overdue for some renovations as the infrastructure is clearly dated and seemingly on its last legs."
