Haida Gwaii Holidays

With new rules, restrictions and safety measures in place, travel looks a bit different at present. Here are a few things to know before you fly off to Haida Gwaii:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before locking in your flight. Also check if there are any special conditions you'll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• Requirements state you must wear a face mask at the airport, even at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to adjust your mask to verify your identity when asked.
• To decrease the risk of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA agent.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on luggage. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag for X-ray screening.
• Put any personal items (like your phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
