Beautiful grounds and great location

Plaza Chapala Hotel is in great location and is close to shopping, food and the city Centro. The grounds were lush and lovely and the staff was wonderful.

No food or wine bottle permitted in room. The room was immediately behind area of check-in, so could hear all that noise. no outside window. Closet area smelled very moldy. That said it was a very good location and the breakfast was good and the room was clean.

Charming atmosphere, welcoming staff and unique! Furnishings and courtyard area were beautifully decorated. Stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed our room. Very clean and daily delicious breakfast . The chilaquilles verde were my favorite! Super comfy bed and wonderful shower! Felt very secure with our garden suite and in room safe.

A blend of old beauty and modern ideas

When you walk in, the grand staircase, Mexico style, presents a lush garden view as you ascend the stairs. The front desk, well versed in English, greets you warmly. The staff is friendly, well trained, and informative. You get a feeling they really care about your stay. They say, they are there to answer any of my needs. You are shown around your room, TV, Air-con, Fan, safe, how keys work for night closed doors and any other questions I can ask.

We really enjoyed the traditional Mexican style of this hotel. The garden room was lovely with a terrace opening out to a beautiful green space. It felt very luxurious breakfast was included with our room. The plaza is right across the street. The town is very walkable. We would definitely come back.

Check in great, staff was wonderful, room was ok, biggest thing for me was the aweful Smell we had from the bathroom, make aure to put water in the drains to avoid this, be prepared for the loud cars and the muaic from the area places, you can hear them but over all it was a good stay, I would stay here again prepared for the items I stated.

Hidden Gem in Downtown Chapala

From Dahia, Erica the Assistant & Housekeeping, Vero to meeting GM Ivan, I love this place. Accommodations & amenities were well done! I enjoyed eating complimentary basic breakfast outdoors on the terrace garden patio & discovered the hidden Buddha set back in the garden. How beautiful and amazing!

This is an amazing hotel! My daughter and I spent our few days in Chapala in its garden and on the lakefront. Never have I found it so difficult to leave. The facility is world class, the staff is attentive and kind, and breakfast is high end restaurant quality. That garden is something which will haunt me forever. If you visit the lake and fail to stay here, you messed up. Now I go back to Wisconsin crying.

An authentic Mexico experience

We loved the garden and the room was quite a comfortable size. We enjoyed the free breakfast, with several choices from the menu (which often included slices of avocados from the tree in the garden! You will be only steps away from San Francisco church, Chapala Lake, restaurants, and bars. But you should be aware there are many, many steps to just to get to the check-in area, and more to get to your room. The front of the hotel faces the main street and the plaza / mercado, both providing a lot of noise, especially on Sunday evenings. Specify a room near the garden for a quieter experience.
