We had a great stay in this awesome farmhouse. We needed a big spot with lots of rooms and this workout of perfectly for us. The kitchen is fully equipped and it's a wonderful place to stay if you're in the area!
Highfields is an old farmhouse conveniently located 20 minutes from the Craftsbury Commons Outdoor Center, one of the best nordic ski areas in New England. It is also convenient to the town of Greensboro which has a great country store and good dining at the nearby Highland Lodge. The house is quite large with a large fireplace to help with heating. We recommend bringing kindling and a hatchet as well as firewood. We also needed our emergency shovel we keep in the car to shovel the path from the plowed driveway to house. We hope to return next winter.
This is a farmhouse with plenty of character in a beautiful setting. It's updated in all of the right places but doesn't feel too modern. It's a 10 minute drive to the public beach, and a short car ride away from Hill Farmstead, plenty of hiking, and just about anything else that the NEK has to offer.
Our family stayed here for about a week in July while visiting friends living on on a nearby farm. The house was charming, with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The location is convenient to the Lake, close to Hill Farmstead Brewery, and nearby the greatest general store ever. The grounds are beautiful too, and star gazing amazing.
My adult children stayed here, and while they did find the home huge, they also enjoyed the warmth of the spaces they used. We are grateful to have found such a lovely location in this specific area.
The home is a quaint, rustic old farmhouse with lots of character and a nice porch on the front side looking out on the lawn and the beautiful VT landscape. We had a couple of wild turkeys remind us it was morning and time to get up. :) The house lived up to it's billing though I wish the lawn had been mowed. The grass was quite high and made lawn games like Bocce difficult to play. You should also know there are no TV's on the property. We were fine as we like to read and go for hikes but those seeking to unwind to television won't find it here.
If you're looking for a beautiful house, on a beautiful property, in a beautiful area, then this is it. The pictures for the listing are a bit underwhelming which is unfair to the house, which is well-appointed, warm, spacious, charming, unique, and surrounded by seemingly endless rolling greens, lush woods, beautiful flowers, etc. There are a few small towns nearby (very small), which are helpful for a night away from cooking or picking up groceries or whatever else you need, but to spend too much time away from the property would seem to defeat the purpose of venturing up there to begin with. Access to great hiking, and food, and beer. Concerts on the green; honor-system heirloom pork shops; fishing ponds around every corner. Did i mention great beer?
