"In the center of the cave properties, no parking , park outside , need to walk about 7 minutes minutes , receptionist was an older gentleman, not helpful, very little English, and somewhat unpleasant , if the property is restricted with parking, I think a detailed instructions how to park is necessary, he was not helpful at all!! But eventually we figured it out, that made the experience somewhat negative, and don’t be fooled by the pool, you need to pay for the time slot , a lot of walking to the room , it is expected for a cave hotel on the hill , the room was pretty far away from the reception area "

"Hotel staff did a great job helping us with the off site parking, though it does cost $15 one way and $20 on Sunday. That seemed a bit steep for a 5 minute taxi ride. Samir was very helpful with our luggage and also with recommendations. Room was very quiet and comfortable."

"Without any reservations this trip and this location is worth every cent and more. Carla, our receptionist- beyond wonderful. Arranged our dinner reservations, arranged our taxi.. top notch treatment in every way. Breakfast was included and was outstanding. Can’t wait to come back again. Well done folks Go! "

"The location of the hotel could not be better. We were walking distance to the Piazza and the cathedral and some wonderful restaurants. There were views in every direction. There was a staircase right in front of the hotel that took us up to a spectacular spot. The breakfast were lovely at the staff who waited on us were just as delicious.I cannot say enough good things about the staff, from the front desk, reception area to the porters to the weight staff in the breakfast room everyone was simply dolcissimi! They were friendly, kind and helpful. I recommend a stay at this hotel if you are stopping in Matera, whether it be one night or a week you won’t regret it!"

"The closest parking garage was blocks away. In fact, you couldn’t get to this hotel by car. Definitely not for people with mobility issues like me. It would have been helpful if the staff gave clearer instructions and if they provided a phone number for taxi services for arriving guests.to at least get them close to the hotel."

"This property is an old palace in the middle of the ancient historic town. If you are driving to it, you will be using narrow streets shared by diners, people walking, and possibly other cars. Once you reach the piazza Duomo it gets tricky and you will need some help. Make sure they know you are coming."

"Great location, not too far from Matera Centrale and the piazza is just round the corner. The room is clean, with coffee and tea provided. The breakfast spread is excellent, especially the pastries. "

"I cannot say enough about how perfect our stay was at Pianelle! Starting off with Saverio, the manager who was so helpful and kind, ensuring us that all of our needs were met. Then there is the super kind staff that also went out of their way to be friendly and efficient. Our cave room was beyond beautiful, tastefully decorated, one of the best showers we've had on this 2 week trip - everything was perfect!!"
