Melrose is the place!!!

We stayed here for our anniversary and they surprised us with bubbles and chocolate in our room. Jack the mixologist at the bar was amazing! We will definitely be back and have all of our family members who come to visit us will be staying there. Amazing location to local bars too!!

Loved my stay here. The rooms were clean and stylish. The bed was very comfortable. The cocktail bar in the Hotel was very cool with very friendly staff. Parking was easy. Check-in was easy. You can walk to a bunch of fun and delicious restaurants. Excellent space!

Amazing Hotel that is both historic and newly remodeled. They struck a balance between keeping it unique and it feeling brand new. Loved the people here, in the bar and the property manager. Really made us feel at home.

Checkin is a bit confusing and small things aren’t quite worked out yet. For instance, they have a closet for hanging up clothes but, no hangers. The rooms are nicely remodeled and the bed is super comfy. The service at the small bar on site is exceptional and the cocktails are excellent. It is run separate from the hotel but, in my opinion adds value to your stay. I did like that they have a sweet little bag for taking your soap with you.

Vacation stay

The room looked newly decorated, was spotlessly clean and had a very comfortable bed. However, it was very dark and you couldn’t even open the blinds as it was overlooked by a car park. The hotel has no staff on site and the experience of downloading an entry key and effectively doing everything for yourself is not something I would do again. I expect to have some level of service at a hotel, it just seems so impersonal. I would avoid this kind of hotel experience again.

Great location to Thomas Hunn Jewelers & Avalon

It was nice. No Chairs period. Only one nite stand. If we return will probably get a more expensive room. Our basic needs were met but seating was an issue that really took away from our enjoyment. Never dawned on me to confirm seating even Hotel 6 has chairs. Great location to Avalon Theater and Thomas Hunn Jewelers. Not sure about the memory foam beds. They don’t sit well.

Worst hotel I ever booked. No staff. Awkward entry system to hotel and room. Gothic dark. Depressing, horrible paint scheme, no chair to sit in, no water glasses no lobby. Web site wants tip for staff. There is no staff!! Homeless drug addicts hanging around outside. Nightmare.

Clean, Quaint, but not for me

i am used to staying at the traditional chain hotels, and decided to try something different for this trip. It was nice that I booked everything online, and that I received a link for the mobile credentials. The room (Single queen) was a little smaller than I was used to, but it was very clean and well appointed. I liked the mini-fridge with a separate freezer compartment, and the counter sink was a nice have. I really did not like not having a place to sit other than the bed, as this made it difficult to work. A couple of things that also made me decide not to re-book when I had to extend my trip was the noise from the bar, the lack of identified parking, and how strange it felt to not have anyone onsite when I checked in.

Melrose, The Virtual Hotel

One thing that should be noted is that this hotel is handled entirely, virtually. After we checked in online, we were sent a key app. The issue with this, was that it would not load unless you were using WiFi, which we did not have access to. Luckily, the bar was open and we were able to get the password. The app worked the first evening, but in the morning, it would not work at all. I later found out that the server that handles the app was down. I was able to text the issue and was given a code to use on a lock box so that I could get to a fob. All of this and other issues were handled by texting. There is no one at the hotel to talk with. We also went through 3 coffee makers until we got one that worked. I will say that the person I texted with was always very helpful. Anyway, I imagine this is the wave of the future for hotels. Not my thing, but the room was clean and bartenders were great!
