COVID-19 has ushered in huge changes to the way we travel. If you're planning a holiday in Governors Island, the following tips will help you navigate the "new normal:"

• Research if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before locking in your flight. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as undergoing health assessments.
• You're required to wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA employee.

• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray scanning.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, put items such as your keys, wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on rather than the bins.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
