Anopolis Heraklion: Villa Fabrica - the old olives' press.
"Villa Fabrica is located in the traditional village of Anopolis, just 15 minutes from Heraklion airport and 5 minutes from the sandy Kokkini Hani beaches. Is a 100-year-old stone building, originally used as an olive factory, carefully restored into a traditional rustic style two-storey house suitable for 2-6 persons. It is quietly located in the village of Anopolis about 100 m from the village square. In the village one finds several cafenions, tavernas and a minimarket. Further shops, supermarkets, bars, ATM, can be found in Kokkini Hani some 3 km away, with a selection of local beaches. The gate opens into a small yard from where one enters the house. On the ground floor is a spacious and comfortable furnished living room and dining room with wooden ceiling, TV,stone built fireplace, separate WC with washing machine. Next to it is a cosy terrace full of flowerpots and surrounded by a small garden,a BBQ and a stone oven. The perfect place to unwind, after a long day's journey. The open plan fully equipped kitchen with dining room too is separated from the living room by a stone archway. From the living room a spiral staircase leads to the first floor into the bedroom with 2 single beds. A large veranda facing the Dikti Mountains and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis can offer an amazing view over the countryside. Next to it there is a separate bedroom with double bed, a bathroom en suite with bath/WC and 2 balconies. A nice place to relax and take part in village life.It offers the unique combination of peace anong with modern comforts and easy access to city life."

A beautiful family space, quiet and close to everything we needed. Enjoyed use of the back garden and interior home. The views are breathtaking. Manolis and Evi were very hospitable and responsive. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
This wonderful, historic and spacious former olive press was perfect for our holiday in Crete. It’s a beautiful conversion with tasteful furniture and art on the walls. Beautiful views, too, beyond the nearby monastery. And our host, Manolis, was very kind and helpful, recommending culture and beaches nearby.
We had a wonderful 5 days stay. The villa is tucked away in a quiet mountain village but close to beach and Heraklion. Excellent location for Knossos as well. Our host was lovely and very welcoming. And all his restaurant recommendations were excellent. A visit to The Golden Cage a must!
We enjoyed our stay in this wounderfull rustic house very much. Travelling off-season the wood stove made the house comfy as soon as we lit the fire. Also the tavern "Golden Cage" can be recommended for nice atmosphere and delicous Greek food.
A more beautiful place could not be found in a small village not far from Heraklion. Filled with comfort, Greek warmth and a lot of thoughtfulness.
Plenty of room, lovely patio and balconies off the upstairs bedrooms.
If you’re looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, look no further.
What a magical house! The village where it is located is like stepping into the past. It was a great experience for me and my family! The host was so nice and gave us a history of the house and the area. We absolutely loved our stay. The views of the mountains from the upstairs are absolutely beautiful! Cannot recommend enough!
Nice rustic experience with all the modern conveniences. The village and everyone in it were super pleasant and welcomed us in with open arms. The house (old olive mill) was very impressive and has many balconies and decks to sit and relax. I recommend if you want to stay out of the hustle of the city have a quiet time then this is the place.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It has a beautiful view of the countryside, way up high on the mountain top and it overlooks a lovely monastery. We loved that it had two bathrooms and two bedrooms. This is a very roomy home. I could have spent a month here enjoying the solitude as we love being in small mountain villages. The owner has thought of everything. We felt right at home.
My husband and I loved this beautifully restored property in a quiet, authentic Greek village away from the crowds. Balcony views across the valley were amazing. The garden area for breakfast was another favourite. Manolis, the owner, was very helpful with the check in process and made recommendations for our time there. He was super responsive whenever I communicated with him, and we were appreciative of his thoughtful gestures such as the fruit platter and wine on arrival. The village has a fabulous restaurant, The Golden Cage, which serves fantastic food. There is no mini market any more in the village. However, it’s approximately a 10 minute drive to the nearest supermarket in the town of Kokkini Hani, which also has a nice and calm sandy beach. If you’re arriving late in the day or in the evening, I suggest you bring your own breakfast supplies with you. A most unique and memorable stay!
The view from the house was nice.
If you’re at the property at the begging of the week the local restaurant is not open and local market has bread only. You have to drive to the city for 15 min to the nearest market. We arrived at the property late Sunday evening a family of 4 with young kids and it was inconvenient not to have anything around for breakfast. Would have been nice the owner to give heads up about to bring snacks ( if needed).
The bed mattress was squeaky and uncomfortable. My husband and I had back pain every morning even though both of us in a good physical shape. No nice beaches around the area and not much to visit nature wise. We enjoyed our stay in Chania and visited all around. We were not very impressed with the area of Heraklion.

Limited Desirability
This property would be suitable for a couple comfortable with a relatively remote village setting. My wife and I stayed one week with my sister in law. We were not comfortable. We used in the primary bedroom with attached bathroom. My sister in law stayed in what was described as a second bedroom. In fact, it’s two twin beds next to the primary bedroom and screened off with curtains. To use the bathroom you either go through the primary bedroom or down the spiral staircase. The thin wall provides no auditory privacy. And speaking of sound; the many free range dogs in the village will wake you numerous times at night. The narrow alleys prevent parking near the property. You find a place to abandon your car near the village church (it’s bells will wake you every day at 7) and walk a couple blocks past a collection of occupied and long abandoned and ruined homes. The house has its charm, but be aware that the photos are very complimentary. The village has one tavern open 5 days a week. All other restaurants, shopping, and fun is down the hill in the seaside town. The host, Manolis is friendly and helpful, but I cannot recommend this property unless you’re a couple needing solitude and like to sleep with earplugs.
This place was so nice, just perfect for our 3 week stay. The village was filled with friendly residents who greeted us daily and we came and went and we ate dinner four nights at the Golden Cage which we loved (it was a quick walk). I would highly recommend this lovely place.
Lovely old house with beautiful views in a tiny village. Manolis was an excellent host.

Charming Villa
We had a lovely and peaceful time in Anopoli. We walked down the many trails and enjoyed peaceful evenings together. It was such a nice and relaxing place to be after the hustle and bustle of other parts of our vacation. Thank you for the hospitality and lovely stay!

"The villa was very nice ...
"The villa was very nice and spacious and the choice of 3 balconies gave us lots of options for our Romeo and Juliette moments!"
This is bar none the most beautiful property we have had the pleasure to rent. The quaint village location, the view of the olive groves surrounding the town, the friendliness of the locals, we will be back and we would have no problem telling people this is a must stay location if visiting Crete.
This was such a great experience and stay. The property is very special and well maintained. The little village is quaint and unique. Manolis gave our family some wonderful recommendations of activities- all worth following!
The charm of this property is beyond compare! Multiple outdoor sitting areas, gorgeous countryside, cozy interior and lovely hosts make this a fabulous getaway to the countryside of Crete. I fell in love instantly and hated having to leave!!

Lovely stay at Villa Fabrica
We stayed at Villa Fabrica in May 2018 and loved it, the villa is very comfortable and easy to stay in, having breakfast on one of the balconies looking over the valley and the monastery is absolutely fabulous. The villa has got every convenience and is well maintained, and the village is very quiet and friendly. Walking up into the hills in the evening as the sun is going down is lovely.
It is just a short drive into the many tavernas of Kokkini Hani where we enjoyed many tasty meals, so all in all an excellent holiday.
