About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Escape the City; Country Living at its Best at our 600 acre horse/cattle farm.
Wolftrap Farm features seven separate vacation rental homes scattered over our 600 acre horse and cattle farm. The Cox Mill House is just across the back road from the rest of the farm, and guests at the Cox Mill House have access to the farm's many amenities.
The Cox Mill House is a spacious "modular" (double-wide), with a gorgeous interior. We own a furniture gallery and use an interior designer to make the interiors of our houses really pop. This house has a large living room with fireplace. All our houses have fire pits outside, and we supply the wood. Your view from the front deck is of our largest horse paddock at the farm, just across Cox Mill Road. There are miles of woodland paths to roam on the farm's 600 acres, and plenty of horses to pet and cows to watch.
During hot weather, enjoy the free use of the swimming hole in our creek. During cooler months, reserve time at our Party Patio with its hot tub, corn hole and other patio games. (Reserve for 1&1/2 hours by contacting owner.) The Cox Mill House is only 1 & 1/2 miles off U.S. Highway 15, making for easy excursions for sightseeing and shopping. We are halfway between Gordonsville and Orange, so you have your choice of quaint village or County Seat, each less than 5 miles away. Each has abundant restaurants, quaint shops, museums and all modern amenities.
The drive to Monticello through Keswick and Shadwell is one of the most scenic drives in America. Montpelier is just 15 minutes away, directly across the mountains you see from the front of the farm.
Barboursville, Horton, Keswick and Honna Lee Wineries are all within 20 minutes' drive, and Early Mountain is 30 minutes away.

Beautiful working farm and just the right size for an overnight stay before visiting Carter Mountain. The food recos were great, and the staff was welcoming and friendly.
My family and I attended a wedding in the area. The property was just as described and very clean. Hosts were communicative and helpful, and check-in/out processes were straightforward. Love that dogs are allowed which made the weekend much easier for us. Would stay here again!
CLEAN! Spacious. Good lighting, seating, storage, beds, kitchen, etc. Would recommend to ALL. Great communication with management while there (regarding a maintenance issue). Away from hub-bub of city, but convenient to tourist attractions (Monticello, Montpelier). Also, just a short drive to the "Country Cooking Depot."
Location was great with a beautiful farm and horses across the road. It was quiet and serene. House could use some fixing up, extra silver wear, and a water filtration system. Beds were comfortable and the house was clean.
Our group really enjoyed our one night stay in Gordonsville at this adorable property. Plenty of space inside and out. Clean and comfy in all areas. Beautiful setting. I had to ask for the wifi password and the owner responded within minutes to my text. Now that is customer service!!!

Home size was great, view of the grounds in Fall was stunning.
Information from Expedia on some things was outdated, so be sure to check the guest book.
Additionally, be sure to read the FULL listing. We popped in for one night to attend a christening, and we didn’t see the details further down about the amenities not being at the home. They are a part of the larger farm property, and required reservations. This didn’t work for our family. While we would have opted for a different setup/property, I truly think it’s a beautiful property if you have the time to take in the larger farm across the road.
Perfect for our needs. Family event in Charlottesville so this property was our landing spot. We didnt spend much time at the property, just stopped and changed before event and then slept, showered and left. Beds were very comfortable and having 2 bathrooms was a bonus for 6 of us. We actually stayed at Baldy retreat due to HVac being repaired at Mill house. Communication about the need to move us was great. Very nice spread out houses surrounded by horse pastures. Great location. Would be great for family outdoor activities if that is your plan!
The house could have been cleaner. The walls were even dirty! Something was wrong with the water pressure. Floors were sticky. Something is either leaking from the refrigerator or there was a spill that wasn't cleaned up. We had a good time, but would have appreciated a cleaner house.
We stayed for a night after visiting Charlottesville and before Monticello the next day. Communication with the manager was good. We found the space nice and clean. The bedrooms and living space were comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed. We tried to clean the gas grill but even so our meal went up in flames, the only negative. Overall my wife and our friends appreciated the quiet, beauty of the area, and the accomodations.
We were very pleased with the cleanliness of 'our home away from home.' Some past experiences were not like this. Our property manager was great with answering our questions. We Highly recommend this lovely place.
Our family was so pleased with our stay. Everything from checking in/out and the accommodations was awesome. Our purpose for our stay was to be there for daughters wedding nearby. With all the festivities surrounding this family event our stay on the farm and the ease and comfort there made it less stressful and more enjoyable and relaxing. The home is very spacious for our family of 8 and there was room for more. It definitely felt like home away from home. Thank you!!
Tina was excellent to work with and our stay was fabulous. The property was as promised and I would stay there again. Walking our Aussies on the farm and seeing the horses was relaxing. Very quiet area and zero problems!
We’ve come here many times now and it’s the perfect place to enjoy the local places and then come back and hang by the fire. Easy communication and feel comfortable staying here.
