"The property is right on the north bank of the Orange River, and offers fantastic views and of course Augrabies National Park. The staff is friendly and informative. We got excellent information from them on the history and economy of the region and on how to access the Riemvasmaak hot springs, including by the spectacular route to its west (4x4 only) through the Vredensvallei canyon."

"Felt like a business hotel - no frills - but does all the basics right. Did not enjoy the smell of stale cigarette smoke in my bedroom. Breakfast was great - TV channels were good - lots of parking close to rooms. "

"A beautiful lodge set on a wine farm, the building is wrapped around a swimming pool with the dining room and guest suites looking onto the pool and carefully tended garden. Food was excellent, staff attentive."

"Ticks the boxes - but does not go further. Has the basics and room had good self catering options - but no soap/gel in bathroom. Room wi-fi didn't work and restaurant timings were very eratic - closing early."

"Stayed at Lions Rest several times before. Convenient place to stay when arriving in Upington to go to Kalahari. Family run - very friendly. Fixtures and fittings are getting a bit 'tired' and in need of refreshing."
