Delightful Stay in an Historical Village

We only planned to stay a night in the Jackaroo's cottage but so enjoyed our stay we chose to stay another night. Goonoo Goonoo is a perfect mix of historical buildings and contemporary facilities. The staff were helpful and friendly (they generously gave us an impromptu tour of the old homestead). We found the location peaceful even though it is only 1/2 km from the New England Highway. We intend to stay here again in the future.

Who would have thought an old hut could be so good

Goonoo Goonoo Station is an exceptional place to stay. We were enticed by the thought of a night win the old shear's quarters but were confronted with the most splendid blend of old and new. The renovation of the old tin huts into 5 star accomodation is something to be seen. The old blends seamlessly with the new. Even the art on the walls is wonderful. We are going back!

Comfort in the Country

Excellent place to stay for a business of passing through trip. We always stay in the Sheep Shearers quarters - beautifully renovated and comfortable. You can walk up to the Glasshouse Restaurant in the old wool shed and get the most incredible gourmet meal. Breakfast also, food amazing, service a bit slow so take that into account if you are in a hurry to get back on the road again.

The setting was beautiful with well kept gardens, lawns and older trees. The unit was comfortable for 4 people and the verandahs were lovely and we used the daily. Was an easy walk around the property. If a person suffered from OCD, one blue brick in the fireplace was off putting as well as the TV being offset above the fire place. LOL.

Excellent country stay, quiet, comfortable. If you are less than 1.6m tall, I suggest you take something to stand on so that you can use the basin in the bathroom. This is set at just under 1m from floor level, normal height is 800mm. Similarly, the shower is rendered ineffectual by the use of a low pressure rose set at 2.1m (normal height 1.8m). Being set in the country, something like a 15 minute drive from Tamworth, I think that fire extinguisher and blanket should be available in the room. Dinner menu in the restaurant was very limited.

We had a great night again at Goonoo goonoo and enjoyed my birthday. We were sorry that the lamp on one side of the bed was out of action and hadn't been replaced. They said it was being repaired!! it was very busy for a Thursday night --due to travelling locally!

This is our second visit to Goonoo, love the accommodation, cannot fault it. Quiet, easy parking. Good bathrooms, well lit, ventilated and a good size. Very comfy beds. A little disappointed in the menu this time round. Only choice of 4 mains, no cheese platter. Previous menu had more hearty, country style and appealing dishes. It was different from all Sydney menus. Part of the attraction.

Goonoo Goonoo Station was a delightful surprise! It is the equivalent of a small, country village containing renovated and new cottages and buildings. We stayed in the “Shearer’s Quarters” which had a delightful outlook over the countryside from both inside the room and on the veranda. The room was very modern, comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom was divine, being spacious and including a claw foot tub. The restaurant served top class food with unique Aussie flavours. Overall, our stay at Goonoo Goonoo station was a wonderful experience!

A lovely place for recreational stay

The hotel is well designed for recreational stay, quite popular with retired couples. It is not particularly suitable for business stay, because the room doesn’t have a proper desk for doing computer work. I also found the room is relatively small even for one person. Despite all these, the surrounding is beautiful and the service from staff is outstanding. The restaurant has great views too.

Overall, this accomodation and its surrounds is top class.the grounds and gardens are very well kept and the new shearer’s shed was excellent.
