Room Clean Staff very helpfull However as we and another guest found out the booking is misleading saying breakfast was included, yet they took £30-00 extra for this, at £15 each. This made the stay expensive against others in the area, perhaps why the pub was empty. that along with more pumps out of use than in use as they had no beer

Really enjoyed our stay here, bed was comfortable, shower was good, nice and quiet, breakfast was tasty and the owners are really lovely. No complaints. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

I’ve marked this down as the fire alarm was going off for well over an hour, everyone was out in the corridor as no-one could get hold of the owner. We were tired after being out for the evening and to come back to this was a nightmare!!! No apology nothing!! The chef was inflexible, the menu was incorrect.

Attending function nearby

Book to stay as attending a function at nearby Carlton Towers. Arrived just after 2pm and shown straight our room. Room was clean and modern. Toiletries available in bathroom and hairdryer in drawer Tea and coffee making facilities available with plenty of choice along with small selection of biscuits. We had a few drinks in the beer garden and required food. Sunday dinner only option available however when staff were aware that this wasn't what we wanted they did not hesitate in offering our group the usual menu. The food ordered was delicious as was the full English breakfast eaten the following day, which was cooked to choice. Would not hesitate in stopping here again or recommending.

Not far from M62 / A19 so convenient for business travellers. Just reopened so a few teething problems. Hot water, shower excellent, but central heating did not work. Was given an electric fire which warmed the room after about 1 hour. Bar opens on 19th Oct. I stayed on 17th. This was not indicated. Not a deal breaker, but not ideal

Worrying start when we arrived and the premises were closed. We didn’t arrive until 2.30 pm but no one arrived until 2.54 pm. The breakfast was very good, on both days. Very well presented.

Poor service and zero atmosphere

Whilst the rooms have been recsently renovated to very high standard. The service was terrible. There were four of us staying from our company, the first 2 arrived and we're told that there was no food available this week because the owner was away. When I arrived a little later this was not explained to me by the staff nor was the situation with breakfast. Other than being walked to my room there was no other interaction from the staff. The breakfast which was not dropped to my room but rather left with a colleague consisted of a packet of crisps and plain white bread premade sandwich a bottle of water and I think another couple of items. Presented to us in a paper bag. To quote my colleague " it looks like a child's party take home bag" All of this is pretty disappointing if this was planned by the owner to be away this week and no food available we only booked last week and should have been made aware of this. When I arrived the bar was completely empty and had zero atmosphere other than the 3 staff being there, having gone out for dinner we returned just after 9 pm to find that the bar was completely shut up curtains drawn. Couldn't and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, such a shame given the money spent on the rooms

Comfortable Stay

We had a comfortable 2 nights stay. Room was clean and the bed was perfect for a good night's sleep. Only minor concern was the noisy extractor fan in the bathroom. Food in the restaurant was great.
