Newly Renovated, Mountain Home With Spectacular Lake & Mts Views, Cashiers, NC

Our Mountain Laurel Cottage is located between the towns of Cashiers and Glenville in western North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains. Because the home is situated at an elevation of 3,800 ft., spring and summer temperatures are cool and comfortable.

What's more, autumn's lush foliage are particularly spectacular in this part of the US. This charming, cozy - and recently updated - home is a perfect getaway for people who enjoy the serenity of its private setting, but also want to be close to grocery stores, beautiful waterfalls, farmers' markets, marinas, golf courses, hiking trails, antique shops, and more.

In fact, it's only a short five-minute drive into downtown Cashiers and just 20 minutes to lovely Highlands, NC.

We recently purchased this home and have completed all the renovations except some small cosmetic changes we will be making. We have replaced and expanded all the upper and lower decks to include two covered deck areas. One has a stone fireplace with gas logs and the other large 16x28 foot area will have a large fire table and wall-mounted patio heaters.

The views are impressive from the living room area two lower bedrooms and the outside decks making our home a great getaway with a true mountain feel.

We are members of Sapphire Valley Community Resort which is 6 miles from our home and offers a large selection of amenities such as pools, saunas, spas, golf, tennis, put-put golf, weight room, heated indoor pool, and much more.

Just ask and we can get you guest passes to use the amenities for free and discounts on other activities.

This place was welcoming, inviting, and perfect for a weekend sneakaway. Fire pits and fireplaces all over, and perfect views of Lake Glenville! As much as I want the lake to be a “secret”, everyone should go and visit.

Beautiful Cabin with amazing view

This is a little slice of heaven with an unobstructed expansive view overlooking Lake Glenville and the surrounding mountains. There are many wonderful outdoor spaces, each one as beautiful as the last. A true North Carolina cabin, very comfortable and well equipped. Our second stay and we can't wait to go back.

It would be impossible to say too many great things about this property and its owners. Great views, Koi Pond and waterfall, two levels of attached covered decks, a lower garden like gravel seating area with fire pit and large umbrella, fireplace and fire pit on covered deck, audio/video, billiards room, recliners, indoor fireplace, etc., etc., etc. Everything you need for a totally enjoyable stay. Beautiful home with amazing views!

We had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful home. It was clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. The outdoor spaces were our favorite spots - the hardest decision of the day was deciding between the lower and upper deck since both offer amazing views of the lake, mountains and beautiful landscaping of the property. The location was ideal for our activities - shopping in Cashiers and Highlands as well as golfing. We hope to stay in this home again on our next visit to NC!

Review of cabin of David and Mary Scarborough at Lake Glenville

We stayed at David and Mary's lake cabin over Thanksgiving and enjoyed it very much. The kitchen is well stocked with nice pots, pans, and cooking utensils and the stove/oven works very well. Very nice dishes and platters for our dinners. The view and decks are extremely nice. Very comfortable beds and nice bath and towels. You can tell they have furnished it with top rate items and furniture. We would definitely stay again.

Lake Glenville’s Best!

This was our second time at this lovely home, and we really love this location. Close to Cashiers and the perfect view! It was perfect for my 84 year old mother with easy access and bedroom on the main level. It is not listed as handicapped accessible, but I think it may qualify. Nice upgrade with the room AC units for the late afternoon when temps in the 80’s. Will stay here again.

Spectacular View - Lovely Home

We enjoyed several days in this comfortable and well appointed home. The lake and mountain views from the huge deck are gorgeous. The sunset is particularly lovely. Plenty of outdoor seating areas that have both covered and uncovered spaces, so no matter where the sun was, we found a cozy spot. The main floor’s huge windows allowed us to eat our meals inside when it was chilly and still feel we were outside. It’s very easy to access from Cashiers, but is in a quiet, private area. The owners are terrific communicators. We had a few questions which they answered immediately and graciously. We are definitely planning a return trip!

Better than expected!

This property is so beautiful with the most amazing view of the lake. We did a girls trip and it was so accommodating for the four of us. it is a perfect place for three couples to enjoy. The pictures do not quite do it justice. There is an additional fireplace and seating area on the upper deck. The sound of the waterfall in the pond is so relaxing. You will not want to leave, I know we didn't!!

Really enjoyed our stay in this cozy and comfortable home with a stunning view! Really liked the open floor plan since we did some cooking and watching of ball games. The dining table was really comfortable for meals and playing cards. Enjoyed the pool table downstairs! Weather was pretty cold so didn't use the outdoor spaces as much as we would have liked but hoping to be back in the spring. Conveniently close to Cashiers and had some fun there! Hosts were easily reachable and kind with answers to questions. A lovely stay, thank you!
