From the very warm welcome from Didier and Katlien and the amazing building we knew were in for an amazing stay at Expo13. The attention to detail in the property - beautifully appointed rooms and bathroom, the very well stocked mini bar, sumptuous breakfasts served in the salon, rivalled any 5* hotel I have stayed in. Expo 13 was centrally located down the road for Gent St Pierre station and was walking distance from the centre of Gent.
I loved the very comfortable bed (best I've slept in away from home), roll top bath, breakfast just as we wanted accompanied by very pleasant music, good location near the station & nice little touch of small bottles of cava in the fridge for a drink at the end of the day. Easy to catch the tram 1 into town (included in a Ghent city pass) or walk 30 minutes by the river. We loved the place & would like to visit again.
What a beautiful apartment. We loved the decor and attention to detail, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was generous, delicious and such a beautiful setting. The area is lovely and quiet (for a city) and it was less than 5 mins walk to the train and tram station. Ditier looked after us from our arrival and gave us great information for getting around. We highly recommend Expo 13.
Warm welcome in this boutique B&B. High standard of room. Close to main station and good public transport connections to centre (or <30 min walk). If rooms faces the train tracks likely to be some associated noise if that will worry you.
The B&B is in a beautiful period townhouse, tastefully decorated with lots of character features and a mixture of arty, antique, modern and vintage touches. Close to Sint-Pieters station (great for connections to Brussels and Eurostar) and tram into centre of Ghent. Although a half-hour walk into the centre mostly along the canal was a great way to start exploring the town. Beautifully laid out Breakfast room with tasty food - loved the miniature glass domes for our boiled eggs!! Katlien and Didier, the owners, were very friendly, charming and helpful.
Bravo
We booked Expo 13 during our honeymoon visit to family in Ghent but didnt realise how far it is located from the center of things. Luckily a tram stop is around 5 min walk from the b&b. Our room had only a bathtub with a hand held shower head (no shower curtains, etc) so bathing was quite interesting. The b&b has no lift, so a word of warning if you are travelling with more than a carry on bag! Also we had some hiccups with the check in and payment info which was sent from the owners and not hotels.com. It unfortunately ended up in my junk mail and caused some issues at check out as we werent aware the payment was meant to be cash only. Other than this our stay was relatively comfortable and the hosts were very lovely. We also had the breakfast which was pretty reasonably priced at 7.50 euro pp and had a few options. The breakfast room and layout were quite nice. We didnt use the other facilities during our stay.
The b&b was very close to the train station and an easy tram into the old city. Didier was very flexible with check in. We had a beautiful room with an amazing bath tub. Breakfast was delicious and Didier kindly let us leave our bags while we explored the city for the day.
